@@ignacioareyte4542 Maitland and Harrison are both top-tier drummers. No need to compare them like that. BTW: Gavin Harrison runs rings around Maitland! Ha!
Grant I chatted with John yesterday on messenger. I was like a 12 year old girl that just chatted with Brittney Spears. John is so good on guitar and his vocals are kickass. It really made my day/life....talking to him. Starstruck man. Lol
.3 is just a pure expression of artistry that doesn't exist in mainstream music. Its sad, we live in the Brittney Spears era of instant everything and so many have no idea what their missing. Porcupine Tree makes the world a better place.
TheNonArtist I know I've seen him live, twice. Still, pTree changed my perception towards life and that music will always be incomparable. it was like oir generation's Floyd.
+Aishwarya Page Colin is an important member of the band, he is the soul of the songs, the whole song, even the drums, are built sorrounding the bassline
I don't think I've ever heard a live recording with such good sound engineering. Everything is clear and nothing is lost in mud. A great package of great everything.
Usually Colin was amazing, however, in Strip the Soul at certain points it sounded to me as if there was a bit of mistuning? Does anyone hear this too? Or maybe he just was playing a different note at these points? I dunno...
I still can't understand why isn't this band well known.. Only a few ppl know about it in my stupid country, I just wish I can see them live one day :( /this music defines epic in every meaning/^^
This is my home, this is my own, we don't like no strangers Raise the kids good, beat the kids good and tie them up Spread it wide, my wife, my life, push the camera deeper I can use, I abuse, my muse, I made them all This machine Is there to please Strip the soul Fill the hole A fire to feed A belt to bleed Strip the soul Kill them all They are not gone, they are not gone, they are only sleeping In graves, in ways, in clay, underneath the floor Building walls, overalls, getting bored, I got faulty wiring Brick it up now, brick it up now, but keep the bones ----- Black the sky, weapons fly Lay them waste for your race Black the sky, weapons fly Lay them waste for your race Black the sky, weapons fly Lay them waste for your race Black the sky, weapons fly Lay them waste for your race
there has not been,in my opinion a better live band than porcupine tree and i seen well over 330 concerts through the years. one concert that could compare was the king crimson double trio about twenty years ago.
I have been fortunate enough to see SW (solo band, Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, No Man) 40+ times in 3 different countries. For good reason. There's no band that comes even close.
Omair Sheikh yeah, it would be great to see Gavin join SW once again, he was a huge driving force on SW’s Insurgentes, and I’d love to see him bring some more power back to SW’s more electronic music now
I agree, they are my favorite all-time band. The skill, the song writing, everything in PT is exactly what I love listening too. I'm a retired touring drummer and absolutely love these guys man.
@Jonnyjy I love Porcupine Tree! i dont care what they look like, just keep making amazing music!!! Gavin Harrison is one of my favorite drummers. No need to add to the non-sense arguing on youtube, we got better things to in life, like watching other PT youtube videos.. Rock on! keep it real!
I totally agree. It's perfect when those two share the stage. My favorite all-time band. I always wondered why John was never a official member only touring? I chatted with him yesterday and man I was like a starstruck kid. Lol what a super cool, humble guy John Wesley is. PT FOREVER.
@Jonnyjy first song I heard was heart attack in a lay by after hearing radioactive toy and start of something beautiful a year ago or so... that led me to In Absentia and from there, I was cured lmao...PT is now my all-time favorite band. Hands down the greatest band of the last decade in my opinion. I keep hoping if I watch "The Secret" enough, Steven Wilson will find me, want to produce my music, and eventually, he'll realize he's my soul mate! HAHAHA!! Here's to hopin'!
I think possibly 2 of the most underrated PT songs? Especially Dot Three for me but this unfortunatly is the shortest version of this Song! The Live Version at Rockpalast is 6.22 in Length and Studio Version is 5.26 in Length...
I know, I know, you're all getting tired of my man crush on Steven Wilson but watch this video of one his many bands, Porcupine Tree and see how much of a genius he is, combining his love for Bowie, Floyd, Prince, The Blues, Electronica, Pop, Metal and a few dozen others into a modern-day Bowie but with more balls.
I can listen to this amazing track many, many times and I just LOVE IT!!! You´re AMAZING to make music!!! I really like your changes between a soft feeling with this Universe atmosphere, progessive and classic/heavy rock)))) Every instrument have a special place to fill up through the show as usual!
The integration of .3 into Strip the Soul was genius. I kind of miss the "cat sound' around 4:24 of the original ".3" song in there album. Am I the only one asking my self for around 12 years how they made that cat sound, I felt in love with it.
Strip The Soul is one rare time that I enjoy the album version of a PT song much more. The post-production effects, acoustic guitar breakdown (instead of distorted electric done here), and huge sound of the added keyboard elements on the album version make it far better than live IMO. Anyway though, they are incredible live!! Steven Wilson (as his solo project) is incredible live, too, on his newer stuff.
