Super impressed with the work around the doors and adjoining panels. For me it’s one of the most critical areas, getting this near perfect pays massive dividends. The 911 door clunk test will be something special.

Absolutely! Good panel gaps make or break a build imo!

It was co cool seeing where you are with the restoration now versus what you started with. Excellent work, lots of fun to watch 👍🏻

Thank you, I find a project like this really rewarding although sometimes difficult to motivate yourself when there’s some really awakened and time consuming fiddly bits. Glad you’re enjoying the content, thanks for watching 👍🏻

Ive never seen a skin spot welded to a door frame , is that a Porsche thing or is it the way you re skin doors ,, I like the idea I think as it would let you move the door edge to account for size by changing where it rolls and the skin would still sit tight . The detail is perfect , and in all the right places , compared to the other guys Ive seen ''restoring '' a Porsche this is a total masterclass in true restoration , there isnt a pie cut curve in sight here lol.

Porsche skins are like this as are e type skins. I think they have fewer welds than what I’ve done though. It does distort the skin ever so slightly but I prefer to do them this way. I’m glad you’re enjoying the content, I guess the production could be better (especially as it’s all done on my iPhone!) but hopefully the build makes up for that

Seeing it look like a Porsche again is a massive motivation point! Can’t wait to start the modifications now. Hopefully have a new video next week or week after as we have a buggy video coming too

Thank you for this series. I binged watched the lot last night, I find it fascinating. Having just bought a SWB 911 it's great have some understanding how they go together. 8weeks is really impressive is there any before pictures of the car? Was it a barn find don't think it could have pasted an mot :D Looking at when you started I was wondering how you were going to fix all that swiss cheese. I assumed you'd just cut the roof off and the front bulkhead lol. Talking to the guys who look after my car, I asked is it possible to build one out of sheet metal (due the amount that are being cut up for resto mods) they said a few parts you can't get (the bulk head?). But watching this it seems even trickier as those new body panels are generic all years and have to be amended to suit the year and lack the ancillary parts so you would still need a donor parts as was the case for the rear parcel shelf.

I don’t have any before pictures as it went straight from the owner to the blasters but I’ll see if he has any! I think it was imported in this state and certainly wasn’t running. I think you can get around 90% of panels to be fair. Maybe more. And could probably build a shell with a few minor donor cuts from another car but to be period correct would be very tricky!

Another outstanding installment. If too forward question obviously tell me to pound sand...but what kind of budget would someone need to have for your level of restoration work on an early 911/912?
@classiccarrevivalsofficial
@classiccarrevivalsofficial 2 месяца назад
Glad you’re enjoying this. In all honesty budget completely depends on the state of the shell in terms of metalwork. As you can see, it’s super labour intensive so generally speaking my advice would be to start with an original and solid shell if you can find one. Paintwork costs circa £15k. You’ve got all mech and blasting costs to factor in also.
