Der Luftmengenmesser dient der Lasterfassung, welche eine wichtige Steuergröße darstellt. Der Luftmengenmesser ist ein Sensor, welche die Signale mittels Potentiometer an das Steuergerät widergibt. Die angesaugte Luft bewegt eine Stauklappe, welche am Potentiometer hängt. Zusätzlich zu der Stauklappe gibt es eine Kompensationsklappe, welche im 90° Winkel zur Stauklappe angebracht ist. Sie bewegt sich bei Auslenkung in einen geschlossenen Raum. Dadurch wird die Luft hinter der Kompensationsklappe gestaut und es findet eine Dämpfung statt. So wird ein Flattern der Stauklappe verhindert.

The air flow meter is used to measure the load, which is an important control parameter. The air flow meter is a sensor that transfers the signals to the ECU by using a potentiometer. The intake air moves a flap which is connected to the potentiometer. In addition to the damper flap, there is a compensation flap which is mounted at a 90° angle to the throttle flap. It moves into a closed space when deflected. This accumulates the air behind the compensation flap and dampens it. This prevents the air flap from fluttering.
