Just purchased a 1999 911 and it needs motor mounts. I did a little research and your video is exactly the info I was looking for! Thanks for all of the time and work you put into this.
@@CarFanatic The mod worked great! I wanted a stiffer than stock mount but not solid. Made a huge difference. My shocks are not as bad as I thought without the engine doing the Hulu every time I hit a bump. Thanks for taking the time to do this and document it!
Hey mate, Thanks for putting up this really great video. Its really refreshing to see people doing well-thought-out 'hacks' on Porsches - so many Porsche owners just buy shit sold to them and never stop to consider little improvements on top of stock components - really great stuff, keep it up man!
Man, this was a pretty cool video. I’ve never heard of this hack, but if it works and the polyurethane holds up for a while this is a pretty slick way to “tune” your engine mounts to what’s right for each individual. Thanks for sharing!
thanks for the idea. I actually bought a set of oem mounts but haven't installed them yet. I just got some windo weld so will give it a shot. so far have you noticed anything negative at all with this mod? thanks for your videos.
Thank you for a really good video!😎 Would you happen to know if another 3M window weld can be used with same result?? The one you use have part number 08609. The one i can get here in Europe has 08603. But i can not figure out if i can use this and have same positive result as you🥴
Great idea! I just watched your adjustable engine mount video again and posted a couple of questions. Do you still have the adjustable engine mounts? Thank you.
You’re becoming the 997 engine mount master!! Your videos are so clear and practical. One question…what is your opinion on the criticism of semi/solid engine mounts being bad for engines because they can cause knocking? I saw that in another video and in some threads. But at the same time in Rennlist I also see data suggesting it’s not an issue.
I have no proof one way or the other. But, the car definitely feels faster with the semi solid mounts. It could be a placebo effect, but throttle response and body roll are impressed for sure. I don't think the vibrations are harsh enough to set off the knock sensor.
Vibration? hell a lot. I did this on my Elantra 2008 and it was the biggest mistake I ever done. I had to replace them again for stupid. Well, at least I know what mean to be stupid.
