This transmission came to us in a 1983 911SC. The first complaint was a fuel smell, and a reported fuel leak. So, we went ahead and did the fuel lines in the tunnel.

Next we took a test drive on the transmission. Work had recently been done, but the shift was not as it should be.
When we opened up the transmission, it was clear it had not been rebuilt in some time. Silicon sealant was an indication that it had been opened at some earlier time in its life.
After replacing all the synchro rings, bearings, and most of the dog teeth, it was time to reassemble and measure. The bearing drag, pinion depth, and crown wheel backlash were all out of specification. With a bunch of shims from Porsche, we got this 915 transmission back within tolerance.
After all the new parts, this transmission needed extended road testing. With everything settled in, it was time to send this silver bullet on its way.
