The car is great, the driver is an idiot. Driving like that on open, public roads, one day this guy will stop someone else from living their life at all. He's over-confident, so focused on his own enjoyment and impressing his friends that he doesn't think about might be around that next blind bend. Proper driving enthusiasts know that "fast" road driving is totally different to driving fast on a track. This guy doesn't. Track days are cheap, organised events for people to get their high speed thrills. 🙄
@@another3997 mr holier than thou, you must be fun around people. Kontinu okay see where it gets you. Trust me from a man likely old enough to be your father with likely more experience of driving more years you’ve been on earth and in 3 different continents. Rubbish!!!
Maybe, but do it on a track or closed roads, where driving like this is fine. But not on open, public roads with blind bends and crests, other road users and all the likely hazards that may be present. Driving fast is fun, making the most of your vehicle's performance is fun and takes skill... that's why we have track days and organised competitive events. Thinking you're somehow invulnerable and totally in control, whilst driving like a dick on a public road, is just a recipe for disaster.
You’re a f’n mad man! I have a 996 and have a few buds that have P cars too. We love to go for spirited drives like that here in Wisconsin. Have a region here called the Driftless area. Several hundred square miles of endless curvy roads. With almost no traffic. About the only other traffic we see are other groups of nut jobs driving like maniacs too.
@@onehundredpicks5531 I don’t really. But if you look here on RU-vid for driftless area driving (or riding - motorcycles videos) you’ll get an idea. Or zoom in to the south west quarter of Wisconsin on google maps you’ll get an idea.
A real driver driving a real driver's car, as it was meant to be. Not a fan of crossing double yellows but who cares as long as it's done safely and with no traffic/blind spots in sight, amazing video.
I had 3x 914s with 2 liter engines, two were 914-6 Bj 72 with consecutive chassis numbers! One was a narrow design, the other had the original factory widening with 7/8 inch tires. I should never have sold...
I had the same. To be truthful it never pulled like what we are seeing here. When he punches it it wraps through the gears fast. Nevet mind that he doesnt seem to be afraid of snap oversteer because hes not lifting at mid apex.
It's a 2.0, with high compression cylinders and a solex cam. My mechanic calls it S spec. And the Bilstein shocks really helped the suspension other than that it's stock.
So much jealousy in the comments. The “thing” dangling from the mirror is clearly a bank indicator but Rivian drivers wouldn’t know about those. His driving is a bit spirited but if you watch it muted without the glorious noises, you can see he isn’t driving that fast.
For years I owned a '74 Carrera with a built 3.0, but I've never understood why anyone would have something dangling from their rearview mirror; very bad idea, very clownish.
I'm glad I could entertain you because I'm having a lot of fun. I'm sure you're a professional driver with years of experience and training unlike myself.
@@davenagelphoto It’s just the basics of what one learns in any performance driving course. Even an old dog like yourself may learn a few things or two, but then again, looking at your driving style, it’s like watching a gorilla wrestling a car behind the steering wheel……LOL😀😃😄😁🥲
Honestly, I can't keep up with a modern Beamer. They're awesome cars, but you can't beat the sound of my car and I'm sitting on the pavement. Thanks for watching. I enjoy your comment.
I have an interest in modifying a 914 so I clicked on this. Great car and all but driving fast on public roads is the douchiest of douche moves. Just go to a track already? Looks like NorCal, maybe Santa Barbara area? Several tracks and SCCA events around there where you can become a much better driver and learn what your car is actually capable of, all without putting the lives of cyclists and pedestrians in imminent and needless danger.
@@chipattack912 Facts are facts. I've done lots of this type of driving and on motorcycles too. Fact is you could come upon almost anything around a corner. Or maybe one day you're not as good as you think you are and clip a walker, cyclist or cross into a motorcyclist. Nobody's asking to be in your Darwin fantasy.
