Cool car. Don't want to be too harsh, but is there a reason why half your car is in the oncoming lane thru the blind left hand corners? That's hardly necessary. Sal doesn't need to be involved in what's bound to happen. 2:50 6:10 7:07
I appreciate the thought you're right, I've been having a little too much fun with Sal in the car. The only thing I'll say is the camera has a different view than my eyeline. Thanks for the concern.
It's all personal preference. This being a Euro Spec 2.8 meant no tail, otherwise it would have had on the back. I was in my late teens in the late 80's and you would see this era 911's all over the place and walking around one with a tail as a teen was like walking around a Picasso sculpture at the MOMA! Great car! Awesome little 914 ahead of you.
Nice you have Sal who obviously enjoys riding shotgun. And the eragasm of that air cooled flat six pulling through the corners. My ‘75 914 is being converted, I can’t wait for it to be completed. Maybe I can join you in the corners on the crest after the break in period of the 2.2L flat 6 being built now.
A real driver driving a real driver's car, as it was meant to be. Not a fan of crossing double yellows but who cares as long as it's done safely and with no traffic/blind spots in sight, amazing video.
Very spirited driving 😃. Who needs a fancy accelerometer when you can dangle a Dinky toy car from the rear view mirror and get real time G-force information as you're whizzing around the corners?!
I really appreciate your comment and, I wish more people would watch my video and be inspired to do it themselves. For now, it's just hanging out with Sal and hopefully I inspire other people to do the same.
It looks like the 914.6 has a removable targa top which is almost like a convertible. On one of the coffee walks videos with Dennis Collins, he bought one from an individual. Cool video. You should watch it. Neat car.
That 914 reminds me of another type car with the motor right behind the driver's seat. Mid engine 351 V8 ford Pantera. From the early 1970s. Pretty impressive cars too.
You’re a righteous dude Dave. I hope I meet you someday either at WH-C&C or in Santa Barbara. My ‘75 914 is down, spun bearing. I’m rebuilding a ‘70 911T 2.2L engine to replace the type4. He’s right even this video is therapy for me, I get to preview or rather pre-hear what O hope mine sounds like when done. I look forward to the next video. Cheers!
I do have a list of all of the owners that is a 71 914 six number 240. If you send me an email, I'll send you the history of the car. I looked at the list and and I don't have a Dan Cundiff. The car sold twice on bring a trailer in the last year .bringatrailer.com/listing/1971-porsche-914-6-19/
Thanks for watching and you are so right, but I'm keeping up with that V12 in my VW go kart. Honestly, the car is just a blast to drive. If you have a chance to drive one in a canyon, I highly recommend it even with a four-cylinder.
Not surprised. That's the reason the 914 won its class (2.0L) and beat the 2.5L 911 class at 1970 La Mans. It beat all the 911's coming in 6th overall. It only lost to the 12-cylinder Porsches (917) and 12-clyinder Ferraris. The four cylinder is nice, but the six cylinder gives it the low-end torque. When you get to the sweep spot in the rev-range, it's crazy fast. I was in 8th grade in 1970 and it was my dream car. I’m happy its finally getting the love it deserves.
Hi Kevin, thanks for the kind words. It's pretty roomy headroom, but your knees might get in the way of the steering wheel. Big guys need to get a smaller diameter steering wheel then stock wheel, one like mine. The big question for a guy like you is do your feet fit in the box and can you operate the pedals. Funnest car you can have under 200 hp. honestly it's just a blast to drive. You can see it. I think you have to find one to sit in it to find out.
Gotta love tail shifters. I put in a side shifter, much better. oh this brings back memories. I had a 72 914-6, build it up to 2.2L, 200hp. loved it. Sold in 1997 to help buy a house. Now I am about to build a V8 renegade rally car.
I really appreciate your comment. I've had the car since the 80s in my family and that tail shifter. It's a whole other thing. I think I have about 165 and that's pretty good with this car. Thanks for watching.
Nice one. I've had 6 911's, 2 944's and 2 914's. When moving on to Ferrari, BMWs and Corvettes I kept my 914-6 and still have it to this day. But don't try this on California State Route 130 to the peak of Mount Hamilton. Trust me on that one.
I'm glad I could entertain you because I'm having a lot of fun. I'm sure you're a professional driver with years of experience and training unlike myself.
@@davenagelphoto It’s just the basics of what one learns in any performance driving course. Even an old dog like yourself may learn a few things or two, but then again, looking at your driving style, it’s like watching a gorilla wrestling a car behind the steering wheel……LOL😀😃😄😁🥲
Honestly, I can't keep up with a modern Beamer. They're awesome cars, but you can't beat the sound of my car and I'm sitting on the pavement. Thanks for watching. I enjoy your comment.
@@ronbelanger4113 Yes things changed but not 40% increase in value. The market has spoken, PC auction ended at 50K... what someone is selling for does not matter, what someone is willing to buy does. The owner can sit on it for few more years and he will probably sell it for 150K lol
I don’t see the issue. The car seems to have been well loved and driven as intended. They all can’t be driven by those who keep one hand on the shifter and the other at 12 o’clock, wrist overly twisted forward to show off the watch. Or like newer paddle cars, when they only have their thumbs and palms wrapped around the wheel with their sausage fingers ready to dramatic slap the paddles.
@@alecnguyen5334 You've left out the obvious. Driving without shuffle steering. It's easy to do and doesn't include either of those other options you mention. Granted, shuffling is a pet peeve of mine and I'm unreasonable when it comes to this. I have no problem with the care of the car. Seems nice.
