Welcome to the GuysWithRides.com RU-vid Channel, where Rudy does dumb things in his garage, so you don't have to!
In this video, Rudy documents what was supposed to be a fuel injector replacement on Project Risky Business, our $4,000 1985 Porsche 928S Barn Find that turned into a full intake refresh that took the better part of April to complete and return the car back to starting and running reliably.
U.S. Spec 1985 and 1986 Porsche 928s are often called "S3" Cars, and it's often hard to find procedures specific to these two-year-only examples. In this video, Rudy takes viewers through how he changed out the following engine components:
1. Fuel Injectors and their dried-out electrical connectors
2. The Crankshaft Position Sensor
3. The Throttle Position Sensor cable
4. Engine Vacuum Line Refresh using the 928SRUS Kit
5. Ignition Amplifiers
Here is the link to the excellent Faye Hadley video where she does a much better job showing how to de-pin and re-pin electrical connectors:
• De-Pinning, Re-Pinning...

I deleted every vacuum assisted system on my 84 besides the brakes and fuel regulators/damper. Capped off everything I removed which obviously included the air pump and a/c

Rudy, I hate making comments after the event. Just looked at my wiring diagram, all eight injectors are in parallel so if I have to go this way, I think a complete replace of the harness to the injectors might be easier, certainly nice to not be battling brittle plastic!

I didn’t mention it in the video, but Roger also offers a pig tailed version that you don’t have to re-pin. That might be a mid level option versus a full blown harness. After all that work, my shark is running very well, so it’s worth the effort in the end.

Quick search on the internet everyone says check for vacuum at the modulator if shifting hard, I suppose you could just run another line instead of digging around up inside the torque tube etc if there is no vacuum there at the modulator... Someone said smoke test it you will find your leaks below...

Thanks, that's what I'm leaning towards doing. The key is routing a replacement vacuum line far enough way from what is a very hot exhaust system.

The vac pipe goes right back to the transmission, I seem to recall a hassle with a section of rubber hose buried by the torque tube, well aft.

Use a smoke machine for the vacuum leak…

Good call - I may have to if I don't find anything obvious.
