And if you think about it, they both German, they both expensive (AMG One a lot more) but they didn’t make that Mercedes at least more reliable so people don’t limit it to track mostly (i also heard some of them if not all got recalled due to some problems)

@@milkofthepuppy these engines have absolutely 0 torque in the low revs, they idle at like 4k and need to get to twice that to start actually producing some torque. That's why regular cars don't have F1 engines because they're very hard to drive around at low speeds as the flywheels are super light and drop or gain revs extremely quickly so you have to constantly modulate the throttle to stay moving at a normal speed.

Now I know they're never going to get even our hatchbacks down to 650kg but why don't we have carbon fibre tub passenger cars yet? I was hoping that McLaren's MP4-12C with its single piece tub would trickle down to regular cars but nope. Surely it can be done economically at scale? Now that it's a single carbon "casting"?
Its between 9000 and 10000 rpm only, ultra peaky, not reliable at all and running on custom toxic fuel. Also MEGA turbo lag, so you had to floor it 1.5 seconds before you needed the power.

@@barath4545 I love that about it. It's really quirky and that's just fun. My first car was a Golf MK2 GTI and it was not very fast, not bad either but when that sucker hit 4000RPM it went crazy fast, loved that car
@@luislongoria6621the engine was capable of more hp than that, and it was tuned down with less hp. So it should not blow up given how capable it was in an f1 race.

Besides, with recent technological advances it'd be easy to make this car a Killer Track Car lol Seriously though, I did make a Pun but I'm not even talking things like Traction Control and all those securities they added to cars so even idiots can drive (mostly!). I mean that if you just add a Third Party Stand-alone ECU like Haltech or FuelTech would be my recommendation but there's also MoTec, AEM, Link and much more, even Professional ECUs that have very particular features but also cost a LOT more like BOSCH ECU which is ~5 Figures...so you'd really Have to NEED those Functionalities to spend that kind of money...just on an ECU...

Has to be one of the coolest cars ever. Imagine telling someone you have a porsche 930 (impressive) but it is also powered by a GP winning formula 1 engine.
the fact it has a historic Niki Lauda engine in itself is enough to make me want this more. Being a long time lover of the 930 as my childhood dream car, is icing on the cake.

I would so have the Porsche anyday over anything modern and I love Porsche's they have such an elegant body style. And it's surprising they made a 1.5 litre V6 that's actually very amazing to know
80’s 90’s and early 2000’s were the best years for just about everything. The drive and innovation was master class compared to today. Today all I hear is crickets 🦗 🎶 from any showroom floor.
Depends on how many hours the engine has left on it… it’s a ticking time bomb only meant to be a toy on a shelf, but a wicked one while it does.

Not at all. For a start, detuned with a lower redline. Furthermore, if you can afford one of these you can afford the maintenance and repair costs easily.
It never made that sort of power and when they did run it fully open it melted itself during qualifying. Any engine can essentially make that for a few seconds like the bmw did. Nothing special at all. And in reality it raced at more like 800-900 hp or so.
Well only in the zones we automotive freaks judgem, reliability and comfort goes to the new cars but ill give up most of my comfort to have 1.)A sense of speed 2.)a car with passion 3.)Iconic looks. There is a ton more but meh you get what i mean.

Since people dont know. All these cars were made by Lanzante in the UK. Oh btw, Lanzante ran the McLaren F1 GTR that won Le Mans in 1995. They also developed the P1 into the P1 LM, P1 HDK, and P1 Longtail. So they know a thing or 2 about cars 😂
If I’d had the money I’d take a 911 to a race fabricator and rework the back half of the car. I’d have them remove the rear seats, spin the engine and trans 180degrees and make it a midengined 911. As it is I have a Boxster S which is the next best thing for only 45k dollars.
Im contemplating on doing this with a Porsche 944 S2, if i can find one in rough shape or as rolling chassis then id try to do this with the porsche engineers and boom mid engined beast, cause the stock cars already at 14.8 to 16sec on the 1/4 mile if the cars midengined with cams modded, bored and stroked, exhaust upgraded etc. Then it will gain a ton of speed.
But they did power cars today won grand Prix. Two in 1980, called the EF Type apparently, from the late 70s until the 80s at some point. They were indeed 1.5l V6 Turbos.
I would take any 930, especially if it is a turbo, but the normal aspirated also has a awesome sound.. You can always upgrade it to a Ruf, if you are talented and brave
My choice is neither, because I can't afford to insure, license or maintain either vehicle. I'd rather have a reliable vehicle that isn't an invitation to a speeding ticket and one that is affordable to insure, operate, and maintain

So we got all these red eye fans. That's. 1.6 liter V6 putting out 1000 (edit) most red eyes have a 2 liter supercharger on a V8 and barely pushes over 1000 and that's not stock red eye numbers.
Even if it was just a normal 930 Turbo, I’d still rather choose that tbh. Modern super cars and hyper cars just don’t excite me anymore. Yeah, they’re cool looking and their power and speed figures are interesting… but I don’t know what it is, a lot of them are just “meh” to me. I just find the old school stuff a lot more appealing.
Some of you are missing the point. You do not buy a car like this with any concern for the downside of owning a car like this. You buy it because you want to feel that car and the road it's on in the seat of your pants. You use most of your senses driving a car like that. Not to mention it takes a while to stop smiling every time you drive it. Want that feeling in something more affordable? Get a Giulia. They have their problems like any other but man are they fun to drive. I think that is one reason why people like older cars. We still want to drive our cars
