Listen to the raw sound of a 1976 Porsche 936 Group 6 sports prototype racecar starting its engine, revving, driving and idling. This was filmed on September 4th 2021 at the London Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court.
This Porsche 936 is the winning car of the 1977 Le Mans 24 hours race. A 936 won Le Mans in 1976 and 1981 as well. The sound of its aircooled, two-valve 540 hp (403 kW) single turbocharger flat six cylinder engine is magnificent, even at slow pace here. I can only imagine what it must have sounded like back in 1976 at full blast for 24 hours!
