The steering wheel from a 997.2 (2009 to 2012) or even 991 (2012.5+) will fit without any modifications it will fit there I have done it many times. The video shows a steering from a 991 on a 987...
You guys did some great work! Only thing is I wish there wasn't that hesitation between shifts. I know it's not pdk but wish the shifts were more instant like the pdk cars. I have a manual Cayman S and was looking to get an auto pdk Cayman for the track.
David Miller yes I agree , I currently own a PDK no comparison in shifts but the paddle shifts appear to be easier as as shifting vs the tip buttons on steering so at least that + the looks

Just installed the pdk steering wheel . is it common that the psm failure light and all the sport buttons won't work until its programmed properly ? the selector on the steering column isn't working either .... just wondering if you have seen that before? thanks
Yes needs to be programmed properly, you need to calibrate the PSM , did you also replace the steering wheel electronic module? Where the stalk attaches to?
Can you please tell us, did you use durametric to do the coding or do you have some sort of PIWIS software? I know the local dealer to me does ZERO aftermarket work. So I need to give as much info as possible to my indy shop

Give suncoast parts a call they are go to porsche dealer for retrofit, give the parts department a call they will give you the correct part numbers and info. You need the electronic steering module from any 2009 to 2012 Porsche 911/Boxster/Cayman it doesn't matter its all the same part on those models. Just explain to them that you are planning on retroffiting and they will know exactly what you need. I have no affiliation with them but they have the best pricing available to anyone buying Porsche Parts online.
+richard knightley Hi its all in the programming, you need to switch out the steering wheel electronic module as well. Then coding is necessay . you need to code steering wheel electronics to PDK shift paddle, calibrate steering angle sensor, re-configure gateway, erase all trouble codes , do a vehicle handover and it should work. But I do tell you that sometimes programming can be very difficult has you must repeat the coding until the modules take it.

Yes it may look like just a regular sticker but its UV resistant, sticks properly and wont thin out . Will last you for a very long time, Have mine on my 981 for almost 18 months now Thanks
Great video !!! Thank you very much for posting it..... I have a 2008 c4s with tipronic . Before seeing this video I purchased a pdk wheel off of Ebay. I was told it was off of a 2011 911 pdk. Just confirming from you that it will fit and can be programmed with the correct steering wheel electric module from the 997.2 with pdk . Is there a part number for the required parts? Also my original wheel has a round airbag but has a plastic triangular cover . Is the air bag reusable or the pdk and titpronic round airbags differ? Im located in NYC . Are you ever up this way ? Or can You recommend a Programmer that can get it working in the nyc area? Thanks
Hi , the 2001 911 PDK Steering will work, you will need a new airbag your current airbag won't work. Yes you will need a new eletronic steering module , so once you have the steering, electronic steering module, round airbag you will need to find a indy shop who has a Porsche Piwis Programmer to program the new steering wheel and module, I doubt it that a PORSCHE DEALER will do it, most of the time they have no experiencing in retrofitting or most likely refuse to replace parts that come from a different model. I'm sure there's plentty of guys that can do it. In NYC I know 2 specialists Deman Motorsports ask for Rick or Softronic Software ask for Scott. Hope this helps.
Can it also be fitted on a 997.1? We have tried fitting it but the horn wont work and its uncertain if the paddle shift would work too.. Any advise on how to make the horn work?
