PORSCHE 992 911 CARRERA | TOP SPEED on AUTOBAHN with the BASE 911! 

I drove both the S and base Carrera 992 before buying. For me the S was too fast for everyday driving (in the UK the speed limit is 70mph) you give it some gas and you’re into ‘losing your licence’ territory real quick 😅 So I went for the base Carrera with some nice options (glass sunroof, chrono package, Bose stereo, Spyder alloys) and it is a great daily driver. I use it to take my kid to soccer, take the dog for a walk & my wife loves cruising around in it too. The S is the better track car but costs $16k more. Tbh, both are excellent cars & either one will put a huge smile on your face every day 😃 I love cruising around in mine.

it is expected though considering it costs £83,000 from factory (around that number)

@@MyRealName do you know why it is not impressive? Audi R8 V8 from 2006 has only 340whp and reaches 301km/h. this Carrera has between 363whp - 382whp to reach just 302km/h. so according to the numbers the Audi is way more impressive.

Definitely more powerful than claimed, but we've seen that before :)

@@MyRealName Yep! Probably something in the 400-420 hp mark. The S is claimed to be 450, but must be around 470-480 even; and the GTS is said to be 480 but must be at 500-520 hp...all of them are faster than what you'd expect from their rated power figures. 👏🏻😎

@@Roddy_Zeh Exactly, a brief search for the Carrera base on the dyno and I saw these numbers: 363whp, 368whp, 371whp, 374whp, 382whp. that is, they are in the range of 400hp to 420hp. and the top speed also matches the Audi R8 V8, which is also around 410-420hp.

Achieving 300km/h + is incredibly difficult for a 300HP+ car, so 992 Carrera has a crazy performance

Powerwise the base should be enough, but you might wanna consider the Carrera T in terms of handling - for your driving pleasure on that mountain passes. „TheTopher“ did a pretty good video about it, explaining what actually makes it superiour to the normal version 😊

The base carrera doesn’t have a limited slip differential as standard. Idk if it can be fitted as an option or not, but if not, you should certainly go for a Carrera T or S

I just sold my base 992 (waiting on an RS Q8). Had it for 2 years, amazing car but needed something different. I was originally trying to get a used S but was more than happy with the new base performance once I got it. I also took it to the mountains and I didn’t need any additional speed. The limited slip might’ve helped a bit but not necessary. I practically sold it for what I paid, but the S will prob hold its value a bit more. If money isn’t a huge concern, I’d get the S. However, you will not be disappointed with the base.

Get a 992 GTS. Even better sound, Turbo brakes, rear helper springs, etc. all make for an even more exhilarating experience.

It's unlikely that you'll ever TRULY benefit from higher models. I keep tricking myself into paying more - don't do the same thing that I do. The base is everything you'll ever want/need

Probably this base 911 reaches around 300 kmh real speed(GPS),almost on par with 996 turbo 420 hp.

@@PyroMatesYT when are you going to learn that saying a smaller number is a marketing strategy to make people think that the product delivers more than it should? Porsche says the Carrera has 385hp, but every dyno test I've seen has been between 363whp - 382whp. which means the actual engine power is above 420hp. so do BMW's and McLaren's. M3 G80 comp "510hp" test on dyno 486whp = 550hp. 720S "710hp" dyno test 691whp = 750hp+ 765LT "755hp" dyno test showed 760whp which is more than 800hp on the engine. brands from Germany and England do this a lot, Italian and American brands usually give exact numbers.

The base Porsche 911 Carrera is faster than any EV, dude! If you know what "fast" really means... It's not the question about stupid "drag racing" bullshit straight line acceleration in just a perfectly for an EV arranged environment, it's about driving on actual roads like the German Autobahn, at high speed and much longer than just for a few minutes! Guess what happens under such premise...??! Even compared to a base 911 Carrera, Tesla "performance" models are just inferior vehicles in terms of keeping the speed level on a solid high level, because its batteries will overheat very soon. For me, this has nothing to do with "being fast", because having the capability of driving fast for only a few minutes until the battery will overheat is just a fucking joke, especially here in Germany on our Autobahn system! All these "performance EVs" from today are just pseudo sporty and can't compete at all with true performance cars like a Porsche 911. Drive the base 911 Carrera side by side at high speed to a "Model S Plaid" on a German Autobahn, and you will witness how fucking awful "modern battery management systems" really are. These super modern batteries are fucking crap for keeping longer stints with a very high speed on the Autobahn, because the batteries will be overheating EVERY SINGLE TIME sooner or later, which means the system will cut the power. It's just a shame and pure "Waterloo", if such a claimed "performance car" limits the power due to overheating issues on the Autobahn. Maybe the all these one trick pony performance Model Ss are faster at a perfectly arranged "drag racing" situtation for just one or two times.... until the battery will overheat, but on the Autobahn every 911 Carrera just wipes its ass with a Tesla, which doesn't have the capability keeping higher speeds for a longer time. Because "performance EVs" doesn't have "stamina" at all! With way more than 2 tons of dryweight these vehicles are also much too heavy, which means they will damage their brakes and tires sooner or later, if you really use them like you do with a Porsche. This is something all the "EV hooray" clowns on social media seemingly have never thought about. Braking, steering, suspension, tires.... It's just crap in suck fucking heavy EVs, especially from Tesla. The only EV from today, which is also a proper sports vehicle and has the capability to compete with ICE Porsche models, is the Porsche Taycan! Which shouldn't be a surprise. The base 911 Carrera is a true sports car and a totally refined and balanced vehicle in every aspect, which only Porsche can make with "only 385 hp". Really nobody beats Porsche in engine power efficiency and putting the power to the ground in the most effective way. Your comparison between a base 911 Carrera and an EV is just laughable, dude!

@@user-jf8gd3lv7q I’ve had a 986 Boxster S from new and since 2001 and have driven numerous 996’s, 997’s, 991’s and a 992 including a 997.1 GT3RS and a 991.1 GT3 - I am well aware of the differences between our Tesla Model 3 and a Porsche, including much better calibrated suspension, better brakes, better handling in the Porsche’s - and I love an engine with great sound and top end etc. BUT all of that being said - there’s also something magical about the instant torque, power & lack of maintenance in EV’s. There’s much to recommend EV’s also and I fully expect Porsche will make some great EV sports cars in the future. My plan is to buy a 992.2 when they come out - just debating whether it should be a base or a S (GTS prolly won’t be available at first and I don’t really think it’s as good of an every day car as the base or the S is anyway never mind it might feel a bit sharper). I’d prefer a GT3 Touring but it’s priced too high and impossible to get from new.

"Instant torque" from an EV maybe is fine, but it can hardly replace all the things these cars are lacking so much. Best braking, steering, handling, suspension technology, perfect tire grip of a Porsche. Let's be honest: Teslas are fucking ugly! You can say what you want about this brand and its cars. Tesla just fucking SUCKS compared to Porsche worldclass sports cars! Even after more than ten years in production, Tesla Model S's still have just shitty start up company build quality.... They are just crap. This is laughable, dude! Here in Germany we certainly have an eye on these things. Tesla just isn't competition for the whole Porsche experience. Teslas lack of understanding, what makes a car desirable, is so much more important, than all the annoying stories about "instant torque" blah blah, because every time I step the throttle in such a shitty built and totally soulless Tesla Model 3, I'd be very aware in which stupid car I'm sitting. The Model 3 also is awfully loud inside. Something I just don't want in an EV! Cheaply built door seals, crappy materials.... If you want to know how silent an EV can be in the interior, just try some EV products from Porsche, BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz.

How so explain ? I know ps is horsepower in German but how is that different to English HP?

Hp is Hp, the only thing is Porsche tends to under rate their Hp ratings and the fact that there is likely less driveline power loss compared to other cars.

My guess would be the real speed here was a little over 300. Id guess on a dyno it would pull a little more than 400hp, which you roughly need for real 300 kmh

he already made another video with this car, and when the speedometer marked 312km/h the GPS marked 291km/h. moreover a quick search and you see that on the dyno the 992 Carrera made 368whp, which boils down to 410hp+ in the engine. most impressive is that the 2006 R8 V8 has 348whp and still reaches 301km/h. but everyone ignores it lol

@@Luke-cb3ly Yes R8 is great but he need V8 to reaches 301km Porsche Demolish most of them whit Flat 6 engine. From 4.0L they geting 510Hp in Gt3 that is impresiv. One of reson why i love Porsche so much.
