During the last couple editions of the 12h Mugello organized by Creventic, I've been lucky enough to see one of last year's GT3 newcomer, the Porsche 992 which has been taken at the famous Tuscany-located circuit by Car Collection Motorsport, Team GP Elite and Heberth Motorsport
The 992 GT3 R was unveiled during the summer of 2022 and made its debut the year after at the Daytona 24h, not impressing so much until a few changes that have been made to the car, taking the new Porsche to the top level, with results such as the win of the 2023 DTM championship as the cherry on top
The car is based on the new 992 series, following the GT3 Cup version that made its debut two years before, in 2021. It's powered by the usual flat-6 engine, with an increase of the cc from 3,997 to 4,194, in order also to make the car easier to driver for gentlemen as well
The Porsche 992 GT3 R made its debut at the Mugello 12h in 2023 even if the car wasn't present in the entry list. After some early problems wih their 991.2 car, Herberth Motorsport was forced to retire the car, but managed to had the chance to finish the race with their new 992
In 2024 three of those cars raced around the Tuscany hills, with Herberth Motorsport present once again, together with Car Collection Motorsport and the Dutch Team GP Elite, which managed to win a chaotic race, ended with a big rainstorm
