how are these holding up... Are you experiencing any noises. I bought same for my 997 base model a little under a year ago and have experienced noise from the front since the install. I've posted a reply to Dale Hennessey regarding my issue and communications with BCNA
Thanks for the video, I’ll be doing this on my 2007 C2 this weekend. Did you adjust the camber on the front at all or leave it as it came from BC? Did you get an alignment after?
Charlie Hustle Appreciate the kind words! I would think the 987.1 would be similar, but you'll likely have more disassembly to do in the back to get to the top strut bolts. Hopefully it ends up not being too bad. Good luck and let me know how it goes!
I think you’ve sold this car or traded into another. That said, did you like the ride on the BC coil-overs and did you stick with the adjustable camber plates they come with or did you use the stock ones? Many have said they are rough with the plates they come with, so using new OE plates and top rubber seems to help. Just wondering if this is worth saving money or just spending more and going with the Bilstien B16 PASM kit?
Glad it helped out. The wheels in the opening shot are polished hre c20s. They are back on the car now and can be seen in the newer video I posted if you’d like to check it out. The black car actually got sold and now I have a blue one 😀
Jay David thank you. Yes, I believe I slightly compressed the suspension with a jack/jack stand combo to remove tension on it. Once you have it in the right position, tension is released and it's very easy to remove.
It says pasm error when you start it. I need to have the option coded out but it hasn't bothered me enough to have it done yet. The only negative is that it won't let you select sport mode with this error active.
cgunnerII Thanks! The ride is slightly stiffer than stock, but not by much. The stock shocks rode much rougher with PASM activated. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the ride quality and the ease of install with these. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions just let me know.
Thanks so much for the video. I'm fitting a set to my 996 c4s in a few weeks time. How many click between soft / hard we're you running in the front / back if you can remember? Thanks mark
I have a question hope you can help! I used your video for help with my install and that you, it came in so handy! One issue now is I have a loud banging when I drive forward (I have a C4S). So much I’m afraid to drive. I did have an issue with the front axel I assume coming free when I tilted the suspension outwards on both sides and I had trouble getting the suspension to pivot back in during the install I assume because the axel wasn’t lining up. Think maybe somethings up with my axels up front? I triple checked every thing else.
Adam Benini I am not sure but sounds like that could be the issue. I definitely wouldn't drive it until you get it sorted as you could damage your car. Best of luck getting it figured out!
Bill S it performed nicely for many months but I recently sold the car. I kept my suspension though as the buyer wanted the car stock. I'm considering picking up another 997 very soon and will definitely do a review once the suspension is reinstalled 👍
Great Video... I have a 2005 997 Carrera and I’m looking to add coil overs soon. Did you say that the brand you used were BC? Do you recommend that brand over others that are available such D2, etc?
Omar Cabrera Yes, I used BCs as I've had good luck with them in the past. As far as recommendations, I would say do as much research as you can to try and figure out which brand will work best in your situation 👍
I think just an inch or so. I have a very aggressive set of wheels so I left camber in to fit them, not sure if it would go back to spec or not without aftermarket pieces.
Mine have slightly higher NVH than OEM but they do not make a thud or clunk over bumps. Are your lock rings all tight? If not, check the large nut on top of the coilovers. If none of that, your sway bar endlinks or suspension bushings could be worn.
Steve L - No, I ran them as delivered as they were self contained and bolted right up. Do you also have a 997.1 car? I seem to recall the 997.2 versions being different, hopefully you didn't get the wrong ones.
LC's Garage hi I think I have the right ones. I have a 997.1 I’ve just installed the rears no problem. But the fronts had no top mounts with them. So I have ordered stock top mounts. Assume they will fit on the bc racing ones and I will have to put them together. Also did you disconnect the battery before pulling those ABS sensors. Or will they trip a warning light? Thanks for your video and info very useful.
I purchased these for my 997 nearly a year ago now. I've been chasing knocking/clinking sounds from day onr. I have replaced my stabilizer links torqued and re-torqued all hardware several times including preload settings. The shocks seem fine after having the car jacked up with weight off the shocks. After a few minuted driving they make knocking noise again. Rears are fine, the fronts are problematic. Other than the noises these ride very well. They look like a quality product, workmanship and visual impact indicate quality, but there are multiple posts complaining of noise. Its a shame smh
@@dalehennessey6265 You know, I'm not sure how to describe the interactions with BC. As a consumer i just wanna be made whole without having to jump through rings. I was instructed by BC on 2 occassions to perform some type of test procedure to determine whether the shocks are blown (after less than a 100 miles on the install). I informing them that I'd replaced, re-torqued and reset the preload as well as replace suspension parts. I was never told to sent them back for warantee replacement. There are multiple forums where people are complaining of noises with BC coilovers, some have been resloved by simply re-torquing top nut or the locking ring but the vast majority of noise issues aren't solved. With my busy schedule i don't have time to jump though rings. Apparently there is an issue with this product. I have run many better known coilovers on other cars and never experience any issues with noise or anything. They were amazing, simple none adjustable rebound/compression designs with standard rubber mounts. Maybe BC is in over its head with its dream setup. I'll make time to contact them before my warantee expires but this time i will demand replacement parts. Hopefully i just got a bad run of front shocks for the 997. P.S. My hex bit snapped off at the top of the drivers side strut and i can't remove it so I'm prepaired to be denied coverage on that one... smh
Good opportunity for them to support a customer. I hope things work out. Please keep me posted on how they respond. As a new customer myself and like you I had lots of options. I have several friends awaiting to see how mine work out and how they support you. Good luck!
Well, I've removed and disassembled the front coilovers. Tested the struts for compression and rebound and all seems well. I reassembled everything, re-torqued and set preload. On the initial test drive it seemed as though I had successfully eliminated the noises but after a bit of driving the noises returned. I played with the compression/rebound dial going from hard to firm and in between while continuing to drive after each adjustment. Again it quieted down the noises, the following days drive revealed the noises once again. I called BCNA and told them of my situation. I asked how long the turnaround was for a warranty claim, I was told 2 - 3 weeks which to me was longer than I'd wanna be without the use of the car. I told the Representative that I'd like to try running the stock mounts with the coilovers to see if this would eliminate the noises as my web searches have shown that running the stock rubber mounts have eliminated knocks and other noises. I was given the part number for the springs required for use with the OEM front top mounts and the part number for the recommended nylon top nuts to complete the conversion. $170.00 bucks including next day shipping was the charge, no discount pricing, no real concern that I am experiencing issues with the product. Wish me luck... will keep ya posted
Maurits Klein - I believe it can be coded out, but I simply cleared the pasm error each time I started the car. Not the best solution, but worked for me.
