OMG. LMAO @ 2:52 "Remove the broken trim and screw from the car. That should reduce the weight of the vehicle and increase the speed."

I just did my 2009 cayenne S. Man I thought I’d have it out in a hour and it took me almost 3 but bc of this video you saved me from breaking anything. One thing though them metal clips around the sunroof I got off by using a pocket screw driver and doing to from the inside of the truck.

Yes since making the video I've seen a great method of pushing them off from above. I wish I had known there were better ways! Thanks for sharing yours.

I left all the screws out and picked up 150 horse power. Now I'm debating on how much I really need that back seat. 😁

@@UltF1 I have a 2019 and a 2001 (C7 & C5). The C5 was normally my daily driver when I didn't have to haul crap around. When I needed to haul stuff, I use to use my 79 El Camino. That thing got way worse gas mileage that the Cayenne does but then it had a 500hp stroker-motor in it. I could only run super unleaded in it and I had to use octane booster in every tank. It got about 8-miles to the gallon and if you put the fat wrinklies on the back, it would try and lift the front end off the ground. The Cayenne is going to replace the El Camino. When I think about how much money I dumped into that thing, I could have bought a house. 😅 I've got videos on my channel of me driving the crap out of that car, as well as me in the C5 getting my need for speed at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. One thing for sure, I drive my Vettes like I stole them! 😁

So helpful even I could pull my headliner down to look for a pano roof water drip...found where the water was coming in but unfortunately I have no idea how to fix it since it’s not the hose as expected haha. Nice job

dsfhsdafhs oh man I already put it back together when I didn’t find the ripped drain hose I was expecting. Your video made it that easy. I didn’t take the back headliner down- just around the front of the pano roof and used the hose on it. Let me grab the photos of what I DID take while it was open. I believe the leak is coming from the roof rails even tho that’s the first thing I checked, sealed, and tightened last year....but upon checking today ALL the screws were loose again...so that’s the next part I’ll tear into. It’s so much water....making a big ass mess
@UltF1
@UltF1 3 года назад
@@michiganmilkyway5130 do you hear sloshing water when you make a turn? Have you cleared bottom drains? Is the water on the headliner or at the floorboard? Did you try pouring water into the hose to be sure it's not the hose?
@michiganmilkyway5130
@michiganmilkyway5130 3 года назад
dsfhsdafhs no sloshing. I take my cayenne off road a lot for my job haha. A lot is an understatement so I clean the drains a TON! Even the one in the drivers footwell. Did the water test today. Where can I send u the leak pic?
@michiganmilkyway5130
@michiganmilkyway5130 3 года назад
dsfhsdafhs oh yea and when I water test it I don’t get a stream on the left side behind the tire-but can feed a wire thru it. Most likely bc everything is going inside haha. Rt side stream is fine.

Fantastic video. Thank you for posting. I just followed it this morning to remove my headliner. Is there any special tool you used to remove the orange foam before applying new glue and fabric?
@UltF1
@UltF1 3 года назад
Glad you found it helpful. Spoiler alert: the glue sucks. I can prob edit and post a video today of everything I did to clean and reglue it. I suggest attaching a plastic cling film or even just painters tape to the fabric side before removing old glue because it's a MESS when it gets on fabric side...

May be a dumb question, but I haven't seen much DIY info on headliner repair: if you're re-gluing the same material, why remove the whole headliner? Why not carefully peel and re-glue, even if you have to make some cuts at the edges where material probably folds up into the trim?
@UltF1
@UltF1 2 года назад
Not a dumb question! Once you get to the point where you decide to tackle headliner reglue or replacement the headliner will just keep coming off once you start. The edge of rotten glue is probably not limited to where you currently think it is due to visual sagging. The old, crumbled glue/foam is way more of a mess than a Nature's Valley granola bar and it sticks like nobody's business to the good side of the headliner. It's hard enough trying to glue on level ground, I can't imagine trying it upside down. You'll need legit headliner glue that shoots Spiderman web looking glue like Permatex and it's super messy and sticky if you miss (and a nightmare if you get a bunch on the good side). Don't get gorilla brand headliner glue... it sucks I know from experience. I recorded a bunch of videos of the cleaning and reglue and reattempt after first attempt failed but I didn't spend the time to edit them into a RU-vid. If you're pretty sure you want to proceed let me know and I'll find them and throw them in a shared Google drive folder for you to look through and see some stuff and lessons learned. Something I got wrong making this video is the sunroof clips part. Push down all sunroof clips from above the car looking down, and don't try to disconnect them from in between headliner and ceiling like I did in this video.

Hi .. I'm at this point myself with my 2008 Cayenne GTS. My alcantara in the back is sagging. So, can the sagging alcantara in the back just be spray re-glued and then roller down with a foam roller? Thanks!
@UltF1
@UltF1 2 года назад
It's a messy process the old flaky glue/foam underneath gets all over everything. If upholstery screws hold it up there tight enough just go with that and don't bother. If you really want to reglue it you'll have to use a great spiderman-web-like headliner glue such as permatex makes. Some glues say "headliner" in the uses section like gorilla glue but it is unlikely to hold. Afterwards it likely won't look factory in some spots upon close inspection. Headliner fabrics are ideally replaced, not re-glued. Maybe your decision is whether you prefer the look of ten to thirty headliner screws or no screws but some imperfections after 6 to 14 hours of effort to reglue.

It can't really be resprayed while still in the car. The Alcantara wraps around the sides. I can makes a Google photos folder with some videos I made of my reglue adventure if you want

Where did you buy the material? Any link .. I have alcantara seem like I can't match the color or where to buy them
@UltF1
@UltF1 3 года назад
I ended up re-using the existing material. It wasn't my favorite car repair ever but it was passable. Make sure you use real headliner glue like Permatex 27828. Don't use gorilla glue even though it mentions "headliner" in the description. I think it would be very difficult to use new alcantara and stretch it to fit the headliner mold, but maybe there are decent resources that teach you how to do it easily.
