In this video we will explain how to reset the Service Now light on Porsche Cayenne. The procedure is also known as oil life reset on Porsche Cayenne. For the first years of Porsche Cayenne the Service Now could be reset without any special tools. However, I think after 2005 you have to use a scanner to actually reset the Service Now Oil Life on your Porsche Cayenne. We demonstrated how to reset the Service Now / Oil Life reset on 2006 Porsche Cayenne. This video may be helpful on:

To anyone watching this video with the hope of Resetting the Oil Service/Service Interval on your Cayenne - Please Take Note: (a) This Adderall-induced (?) presentation skipped a couple of fundamental steps within the procedure (b) This Reset "Hack" ONLY WORKS on Cayenne MY 2003, '04, and '05 - e.g., 1st Gen editions. If you own a Cayenne built AFTER 2005 - you will need to buy an inexpensive (under $200 USD) scan/reset/code tool ("Durametric" brand is very good) or pay a shop $150-$200 every 3K mi to do a reset for you. For ANY 2003-2005 Cayenne owners out there... Rejoice! I've listed the CORRECT sequence for a reset below: (1) Remove key from ignition | Close all doors/hatch | Set Parking Brake | Depress Brake Pedal | Place shift lever into (N) Neutral (2) Remove foot from Brake Pedal | Depress the Odometer button - while keeping Odom button pressed down - Put Key into Ignition (3) With Odom still pressed down - Turn Key to Position 1 (power on) - Keep Odom button pressed until "Service" shows on Display (4) Now you can stop pressing Odom button | On Wiper Stalk - Push "Enter" - Scroll/Select "Reset" then Press and HOLD "Enter" (5) As you continue to HOLD down "Enter" - "Service Reset" will appear in the display | Keep holding down on "Enter" while you... (6) Turn ignition Key OFF | REMOVE Key from ignition | Remove tense/cramped Index finger from "Enter" button | then... (7) Depress button on Gearshift selector | Return Shift lever from (N) Neutral back into (P) Park | Prepare drink-Toast $avings-Repeat Note: In (some) early v.1 software - "Service" in Display (item 3 above) will have automatically defaulted in Display to "Service Reset". Should this occur - simply by-pass (item 4 above) and proceed directly to "Item 5" by pressing/holding down "Enter" on wiper stalk. Procedure will Reset your Cayenne to factory spec service intervals (every 4 mo. or 4K mi). It will also flush any "Brake Service" and "See Shop", "PSM", etc., related maintenance/service alerts that were stored - so mentally stay on top of other necessary servicing.

@@bobhowells9603 Routine maintenance messages appearing in the display are only service reminders based on established factory guidelines; e.g., there's nothing mandatory, they're "suggestions". Just keep an informal log, and note the date and mileage that you perform each reset - adjust your own personal maintenance schedules for servicing the vehicle accordingly. After doing the reset procedure a couple of times, it'll become second nature; and won't take more than 30 secs. to complete. If you want to change/increase the interval of the settings, you'll need to purchase a good quality scan tool, and manually make the adjustments to the OBDII. Scan tools are $200+ and that totally defeats the purpose of even knowing how to do the free reset hack.

En resumen, lo de mantener presionado el cuenta kilometros mientras se da ignición para entrar al menú de resetear mantención no funciona casi nunca jajajaja. Lo mejor es con un scanner, preguntando en el taller donde se realice alguna mantención para que lo entreguen sin testigos prendidos del trabajo realizado 😂...

HI i recently did my 2004 cayenne water pump and i now have a no start and p0864 code on obd2 ... it was starting perfectly fine before i did the water pump.. do i have to reset anything? Computer turns on and fans come on when i crank ignition but car doesnt turn over?

I did this and now my car will not start. I am getting a brake proportioning warning. I held reset button but service light did not come on, instead the radiator fan came on and now car will not start. My Cayenne is a 2005. And ideas? Please help.

Only if you also replace/update ECU 1 and ECU 2, it's corresponding wire harnesses, and update the system software. Now wasn't that a lot easier to swallow than just having someone post a flat-out "NO" ?

Sell your '08 and purchase a 2003-2005 Cayenne. The failed "hack" attempted by speed-racer only works on 2003-05 models. Review my redacted reset procedure found in the Comments section. Surf to another RU-vid video on this same subject; preferably from a person not wearing race togs and/or under the influence of a Class IV stimulant.

Under the driver-side (seat pedestal) carpet, dis-connect a bolt securing a connector (battery ground) to the floor board. Locate and Remove the ABS relay, then re-install it and reconnect the battery ground. Drive the Cayenne under normal conditions at least 20 mins.. By the third cold (key in/key out) engine start, the warning should disappear after the ECU has had the chance to re-learn the fresh new digs.
