Kelly's back to take on this Porsche Cayman totally covered in bug etching. When cutting won't cut it, Kelly breaks out his wood, blocks, sticks, and de-nibbing tools to see how best to shave down the etched clear coat. Thinking it can't be corrected and it needs a repaint? Think again.
Products used in this video:

@@LakeCountryManufacturing Amazing ! Thank you. Keep it up. Also I have a question for this video. Can you use an airbrush to apply Clear coat evenly in minor defects if you need to..in a peeling situation or something like this ,in case a client wants you to restore it without painting

Very few left that know and can do this level of work, and as he said for a few defects not the 💩 show on display of a not just neglected vehicle but abused...... KDS will have the car restored but the owner will do it again unless this car was purchased used and they brought it to KDS to work a miracle.
@LakeCountryManufacturing
@LakeCountryManufacturing 2 года назад
To the owner's credit, this occurrence was unusual... other cars we've detailed for him in the past have not been so unlucky!

Any recommendation for a good clearcoat that's not too thin (so it doesn't run on vertical panels) which doesn't need to be mixed up like you did?
@jtm1979
@jtm1979 2 года назад
Btw on Whitedetails video you show and mention PPG D8122 ceramiclear. So i have read that only top of the coat is super hard and once you compound it, it becomes soft. So is it true or urban legend?
@LucaBonato
@LucaBonato Год назад
Hi Kelly. What do you think of sanding before applying clear coat or a touch on color? I tend to sand with a 1500/ 2000 grit to give the paint more area to bond to. Lots of touch on done by bodyshops that just apply the colour will just come off by the blade... Thanks for your input 👍
@Adi-S
@Adi-S Год назад
Awesome info! Did you have to sand the entire hood down and put color and clear coat, or did you do just clear coat?
@LakeCountryManufacturing
@LakeCountryManufacturing Год назад
Just clearcoat

Is the micro wool pad the most aggressive pad option for the 15mm orbital?
@LakeCountryManufacturing
@LakeCountryManufacturing 2 года назад
It's up there for sure, although with the right technique you would probably be able to create similar cut levels from the HDO Microfiber pad, or the short-pile Purple Foamed Wool. Of course, we could make it even more aggressive by switching to the P3 / 21mm orbit ;)
