Porsche Macan Radar Detector Install

This is a 2017 Porsche Macan GTS that we have adopted here at BreitWerks. No modern Porsche is complete without a decent radar detector! In this case we used an Escort Max 360. The video shows how we hid the power wire for a nice clean install and where we were able to tap into power without making a single modification that can’t be easily reversed.

I can confirm that these directions are good to go on a 2023 Macan GTS and Redline 360c. The slot 4 from the bottom is open and switched with ignition and the silver bolt to the left is an excellent ground. I used the genuine Escort Direct Wire Kit which comes with the 5am fuse on the hot wire. Didn't have to remove the pink fuse holder - thank goodness.

Just installed mine in a 2022 Macan. Exactly as described. No additional parts needed other than what came with the kit.

Thank you very much for this video. Just used it to install an Escort 9500ix in my 2022 Macan S. Used the Escort wiring kit and it was super easy as a result. Appreciate the time spent to post this.

Same procedure for most Audi/VW. I ran mine on the inside of the A pillar and looped it around the inside part of the dash and pillar into the fuse box!

Doesn't the wiring on the A-pillar interfere with the side curtain airbag?

I am sure that if you really ham fist it in there you could mess something up. But with a little patience and care, I didn’t feel like it would be an issue whatsoever. Ymmv, it is the internet after all.

The power connector into the fuse panel? not very intuitive as to how that connects in there?

Each vehicle has different options. There is no single, perfect fuse. You have to find one that comes on with the key. Good luck!

@@Breitwerks Thanks for the reply! I understand this, but the video does not show the connector being used, nor how it physically connects into that fuse location. I have a '21 Macan, which is the exact fuse panel as shown. My Valentine One has a spade that connects to a line crimp. I would rather go into the fuse panel. There are fuse panel connectors, but the video looks like a simple covered spade connector shoved into the hot side, but I am only guessing as the video does not show that detail.

@@abarli Bussman makes a “add a circuit fuse tap adapter”. It replaces the mini fuse with a fuse that had a wire coming out of the back of it. I believe you can get them on Amazon. It makes for a nice, clean, easily reversible installation. Versus using a vampire clip on a factory wire.

A4 fuse is seat ventilation motor.

Yikes. I've seen better installs from Circuit City. You managed to run the wires correctly, but your connections are a total hack job. You can get factory fuse box connectors for under a dollar and plug them in the spare slots for a factory look. Not sure why a "Porsche specialist" would do this.
