I too, am feeling a sense of loss. To counteract this, we will do a one minute long explanation on the next video. THEN EVERYONE WILL KNOW WHAT EXTRA THROTTLE HOUSE IS
Every single of those EV wheels that increase range, look horrible. Teslas designs are awful aswell. Id rather have normal wheels and lose a bit of range.
I love throttle extra horse! Edit: I have finished watching the vid, and after laughing loudly 3 times on the bus on my way to work, complete with being stared at by my fellow passengers (who either thought I was having a psychiatric episode or wanted to know what I was laughing at), I must reiterate what I have said previously. You guys have such amazing on-screen chemistry and, while the content quality is very high (even on throttle extra horse), I primarily watch for your banter and sense of humor. You two are the best thing on RU-vid!
Wholeheartedly agreed. They manage to perfectly present the banter dynamics of true friends at its best. Even if I have zero interest in a given car they review, I watch for the pure entertainment. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful content.
@@effa114 Me too. I'll watch their reviews of cars I normally wouldn't even give a second look just for the excellent bants and chemistry. They can make fun of each other without you feeling that they're digging deep.
I love Thomas' analysis. it's so valuable. the only other big reviewers who would talk with as much detail and finesse about dynamics and balance at the limit, specifically the ones that you really want in a sporty car, are Mark and Jack at Savagegeese.
And because Savagegeese give a honest review on cars they tend to be back of the queue on a car debut.. And have to rely mainly on subscribers to lend them anything of interest !!
@@Iamneverright I am massive fan of Mark and Jack and the quality of their content. Also Value Matt Farah’s opinions as he is an OG of the RU-vid car Game.
"NO REAR END FUN TIME?!?" Either MY head's subconsciously in the gutter, or James YOUR head's subconsciously in the gutter (wouldn't be the 1st time 😂). Enjoyed the vid as always guys. 😉👍👍✌️
james is candidly really funny and i think extra throttle just shows that from the joke about looks to the "rear end fun time" to the exchange of fluids to yelling at trucks to the green light and lastly the cut.
I totally agree. More physical buttons! Idk why electric car makers feel the need to make their cars so futuristic. Just make an electric car that feels like a normal car
Good video 👍 I have seen and read several reviews of the RWD Taycan from N. America and Europe where they much enjoyed the car. While I trust those reviewers, I also trust your view on it, so I will try to understand the different opinions. Firstly, I think that the wheels and tires choice, as well as the multiple chassis options certainly make a huge difference. Those 19" wheels, besides being unexplainably ugly for me, apparently come with less sporty tires. Then you have all the Porsche options for suspension, rear steering, etc. So this combination that you tested looks more suited for plain highway driving. Then, for driving fun perhaps you prefer the typical FR (eg. Miata) or even MR (eg. Toyota MR) layout of ICE cars. I think it is very hard to have exactly that same type of handling balance and response in EVs due to the low mounted batteries and CoG. Maybe we will get there with smaller EV sports cars and much lighter batteries in the future!
Taycan is the closest I've come to switching to EV so far, particularly that Cross Turismo model. I think I'll still wait a few years though to make the switch, give them some time to improve charging time and range with EVs in general.
In my opinion just need more chargers. At least in my area. Range and charging time are acceptable to me on my model y. I save quite a bit of time on a day to day basis with home charging and not having to go for fuel three times a week for how much I drive. Every morning you have a full tank!! That part is awesome. On a 5 hour drive I'd need to stop for less that 20 mins of charging on the way which I'm happy with. My problem is there's so few chargers where I live that there's a lot of places I just can't travel to. But by the end of this year there will be a couple more chargers going in at critical locations for me!! Right now I need to have another vehicle which I need anyway so no big deal. But I love my model Y
@@WUTaNIGGAiAM I’m a Tesla 3 LR owner. My 1989 Porsche steered better and had much better interior quality materials than my 2019 Tesla. 25 years after manufacture. FFS. I will be going back to Porsche in a few years, and probably many others will too.
The 4S is the sweetspot of the Taycan line. Its loads of fun on country roads. I love Throttle House but PLEASE do not compare the Taycan to the Panamera. The Taycan is way more nimble, feels lighter and handles better. Also the ride is better with air suspension.
I agree to your review, well done! I wanted to lease a base Taycan as my business car - I really wanted to. I could so much feel the weight too. It's not a sports car, its not a GT (lack of range). It's a great car but was not for me and I love Porsche.
Interesting perspective, but I have to weigh in a little here guys. I own a Taycan Turbo, and recently did a hill climb in it. We had a line of Porsches, sort of racing up a great mountain road with a lot of hairpin turns. I was the third car, behind a 911 Carrera 4S (992) following a Cayman GTS. And behind me was another 911 Carrera S (992). This was the type of road that you would expect the 911 and Cayman to leave me in the dust, but they simply could not shake me. And even in heavy turns I did not loose grip on my front end. And I had the car in the sporty stability program to let the tail come when I pushed it in the corners. And it did. Was if fun? It was magnificent. So maybe what you need is a Taycan Turbo, not that it's much different than the Turbo S, besides launch, but it was fun. Worth mentioning, you need to go really fast before it get's challenging enough, and fun. At lower speeds, it's too easy, and that's probably where you feel it's no fun. Which brings me to my point. If fun is your thing, in your daily driver, you need something really bad, but with rear wheel drive, a decent enough engine, so you're able to get the tail out, and good steering. You want a Miata or MX-5 as we call it, in the rest of the world. The Taycan is absurdly good at handling speed, not only on straights but through corners too. Way more than it's weight should allow for. But you need the 265/305 tire combination. Those flimsy 19" things that RWD ran on is useless. And yes, it's not made to drift. It's made to go fast around corners, and drifting is not the way to go fast around corners. So when you try to make it drift, it does not want to do it. But when you get into 1.2G in all 4 directions, it gets fun. At least for me. And by the way, I did drive that 911 and Cayman too. And it was great fun, but it lacked the power output I have in the Taycan, and at least going up the hills wasn't as much fun in the 911 as I had hoped. I actually had the most fun in my own Taycan Turbo.
Love the vids. I watch other similar channels but your combination of comedy and informative material is like no other. Keep up the great work - you could have your own TV show!
Guys, if you´ll come to Germany one day, spend a day at the Nuerburg-Ring. Not for driving, for watching and counting cars. What you will see is: tons of BMWs (most 3 series) and Golf GTIs - plus Porsche 911. But you will (nearly) not see Porsche Macans, Taycans, Panameras and so on. Nearly nobody, except you, goes on a race track with them. The Porsche owner buy the car because the quality, the brand name, the power and because they know that they will win a short race at a traffic light. Btw., it´s the same with Ferrari and Lambo owners - but they don´t like understatement.
Great review, but I do have one question, are there no “affordable” fun long range EVs, or is the short range Mini Cooper SE the only sporty option here?
the problem is once you want long range the batteries necessary add a lot of weight and cost and size. Building an ev miata with good range will require better energy density. Pray for the new tesla cells to get us a step closer
As he is about to point out the hideousness of the wheels, his compadre gently deflects the topic, as to not offend the person who kindly allowed them to review their car. Well done, kind sir. Well done. 0:55
I laughed so hard when you talked about the New Yorker shouting at the Camry for not going bc i'm a Cali transplant who started driving in NYC and the NYC impatient demeanor definitely rubbed off on me lol
its definitely a "sporty drivers ev" having switched to this taycan from a model S big difference and how hard I can hit turns with this bad boy is crazy.
I'm glad the Porsche pricing is reasonable in Canada. Have u guys ever looked at the price of the model Y and the Plaid in Canada? The price difference is way more than the exchange. Almost $15,000 more than it should be for the model Y and $20,000 for the plaid. Plus we have to pay another 11% on top of all that. WTF Tesla????
This is the third video I've seen where they cut off the last word and end the video. I feel like I'm fully invested in Thomas and James and need to know these things! 😂
Since the company is built on options (normal version of this car with ok options would be 110k eur so 28k in options) not surprised if it was intentional
They literally took a Honda Odyssey’s wheels and made them even worse. Not even exaggerating when I saw they’re the worst looking wheels I think I’ve ever seen in my life. Like porsche what’re you thinking
They designed the wheel to have the indented part in black, and then didn't paint it for the base spec. If you go for the next wheels up, its just the same wheels with black bits and it looks miles better
Something quaint about how a Canadian says "house". Something weird about how a Pom says "Yogurt". But just enjoyable all round. Cheers from down-under.
This review is more about how expensive the car is and not how good or bad it is. Money is relative, what’s expensive to you is relative and someone may like the exclusivity of not everyone buying this car unlike and Audi E-Tron. Also have owning both cars I can tell you that E-Troj interior feels cheap with glossy plastic all over which feels out of place even in a Golf let alone a $140k car. The Porsche is much better built together, has better interiors, better curb appeal and slightly firmer suspension making it less floaty and more sporty. This car is what every EV should be!
My feelings exactly, EVs are great for daily driving a perfect commuter cheap reliable and good for the environment, that’s why I bought a Mini SE , the cheapest EV with ask the range you need for this purpose. Talk about a perfect gap finder, the compact size and the instant torque is the best city runabout. take the money to save and buy a proper Porsche 718 GTS. , I have a 981 GTS . If you need a bigger car for hauling or long distance travel then rent one.
I disagree. Taycan is the best daily driver I have ever had and its loads of fun. Much more fun than my F80 Comp was. Its incredible how it steers in curvy mountain roads with that weight.
They reviewed a Honda on the main channel with all the razzmatazz. And they reviewed a Porsche on the low cost production extra channel! Mad Canadians! :D
