Thanks for that review that one is on my radar Can’t wait for a battle with the former king of Islay (Lagavulin)😉

This Port Askaig 8 sounds like it's perfect for my preferred wheelhouse! I love so many single malts and not all peated, of course, but peat, iodine, tobacco, medicinal, char, you name it - I adore peated whiskies!! I love this review very much! I will work on tracking some Port Askaig 8 down. I don't see it in our Canadian government liquor stores so I may have to order it! Cheers! 🙂

I think you will love it Christine! But don’t over pay for it, I think I’m going to do a war with this against the Lagavulin 8 soon, but so far, I’m a huge fan of this port askaig. It reminds me a little of the Lagavulin but much more medicinal. I think it’s a little underrated. Thank you for watching :)

@@WhiskyWarsit would be great 👍 i remember review at Dramface while ago. They said Port Askaig smashed Laga 8. its un believable bacause Laga 8 is soo good. Didnt try Port Askaig 8 yet because most of opinions tip Port Askaig as a winner so i couldnt decide which one buy at first even i seen Port Askaig 8 with 2 Glencairn glasses for £40 🤦‍♂️.

I can enjoy medicinal notes. Not all the time, but when I am looking for it, it's welcome! Cheers!

Same here to be honest but I’m so happy that I know have that mood in a whisky so that when I want medicinal, I think this is the first whisky I will think of to fill that need. I think it’s underrated. Thanks for stopping by :)

its fantastic. looks like right my street. Medicinal bandage notes its what i love. This one is still top on my shopping list. Just recently almost bought this one but i found Scarabus on Sale at MoM 10yo for £33 and Cask Strenght for £36 and i couldnt resist so Port Askaig next time 🤷‍♂️. Everyone knows its Caol Ila but its GR8 dram and shows how many faces(good faces) Caol Ila has. I love Caol Ila 12 but IB's expressions of it are way better. I cant wait for wee War with Laga 8. Cheets and Slàinte 🤠🥂🙋🏻‍♂️

Very strangely, I’ve just seen a couple of written reviews online and they say it lacks medicinal notes so someone here is clearly clueless and that totally could be me! But every time I have this whisky, I just get sweet boiled vegetables, sweet seaweed and sweet medicinal notes every time and weirdly I do get sweet medicinal notes in a caol Ila too but this port askaig seems less light and floral/honey and more of the above with ash but they both share that sweetness and even medicinal quality but this one is so strong in that note for me but clearly this is a very controversial opinion for some reason. If you get it, I’d love to hear your opinion on it! Amazing prices on the scarabus’. I’ve yet to try them but one of my viewers swears by it so it’s definitely on my list for the future

Great review! I think it would also make a good battle with the Ardbeg 10. Cheers!

Thank you for the quick review. I'm having the PA 100 as I write. I don't get earthiness or band aid/Iodine that resembles Laphroaig. It's seem to be a lot sweeter than what you get from the 8yo. 100 proof is thick, sweet, and not prevalent in the smoke department. The smoke is more towards the meaty style. Thick and mouth filling. It sounds like the 8yo and the 100 is very diffrent. I think you would choose the Lag 8 over PA 8. 😊

Ah very interesting! This 8yo is very sweet but in a very weird way, sweet boiled vegetables, sweet seaweed and sweet medicinal notes. Very different from what I’m used to but I love it for that. I agree though, it seems they are very different, more different than what I thought they would be (100/8yo) Hmm.. haha I will record this video next week, I can’t wait actually. Let’s see if you’re right on that!

@@WhiskyWars That review is going to be very intresting. I'm glad I picked up two Lag 8 when I had the chance. It's currently not availlable, so I still have one unopened. Touching on price, the Lag 8 is £44 here and PA 8 is £60, so I can imagine that is an advantage for Lag 8, that also have 2,2% more ABV.
@WhiskyWars
@WhiskyWars 5 месяцев назад
@PezrulezHaakon oh I see! So the PA would have to be a lot better to make it worthwhile for you
@PezrulezHaakon

@@WhiskyWars Yes, PA 8 have to take me behind the shed to be a contestant to Lag 8 when it comes to value 🤗

We did a Port Askaig vertical tasting with my whisky club and even though there was a favourite and we did rank them, the consensus was Port Askaigs are good! I mean how can they not be with young -isg Caol Ila (mostly) at a good strength. Cheers 🥃
