I have been unlucky enough to view quite a number of "presentations" concerning Remote Desktop connections and related material (such as Port Forwarding), but all of them left me so frustrated and full of questions due to their scattered, vague, inconsistent and low-quality info that they had to offer. Your presentation was nothing short of a revelation to me concerning the issue of connecting two computers belonging to to different LANs using Remote Desktop. I cannot really tell whether it is the clarity of your language, your grasp of the subject, the calm tone of your voice, the carefully prepared audio and video material or the sum total of all these factors that make your presentations fully understandable, complete and easily applicable in the real world. You saved me tens of hours of trying to understand this issue in a hands-on manner and I cannot thank you enough for that. A very good video for beginners. In many occasions, these kind of technical explanations are done by experts who would assume their readers to already know the most fundamental concepts, leaving a lot of question marks for those who want to understand fully. But this is so well done that you understand the concepts quite thoroughly.

This does do a very nice job of explaining the process of port forwarding in a "friendly" environment. Next, we should address a more important issue, namely what to do with port forwarding over the open internet which is not populated by "friends" but by people whose sole purpose is to steal information and leave undetected. Microsoft products in their default configuration are often setup for indiscriminate sharing, a connection not desired over the open internet.

Doesnt the router forward using both a ip and port? The example makes it seem like only the port number is used to connect to device but its port and ip of device that initiated the request. This would give the idea that everyones internet will be blocked because someone assigned port 80 to their device

I understand the part where you have to enter to the port number to bypasss the firewall. but, where does the Public IP number 66.94.34.13 number come from? And how do I find this ip number?

Well, I've got a question .... what if two computers💻,💻 which both have port 80, have their entries in the port forwarding table with the same port number although different IP addresses...then which computer is the router going to forward the packet to?

Excellent animations, good comparison to companies departments. But: you should at least mention, that port forwarding can be a highly dangerous thing! Do not hide the dark force of internet!

So @2:38 you show that 192.168.1.1 is the *internal* router IP address... ...but @4:09 you all of the sudden show a completely different router IP address. I assume this is the *external* IP address that your ISP provided you? The IP address that the Internet sees? I wouldn't have been able to guess that without having been taught it before. Newbies would be lost. It's also confusing that @2:56 you call the *internal* router IP address simply the "IP address of the router" when it's REALLY important in this context to distinguish that it's the *internal* IP (as opposed to the *external* one shown @4:09).
