good video but you missed an interesting point. When Port Royal was destroyed by earthquake, it had been the largest British colonial city - far larger than New York and at the time more important.

Fair enough, the English got on all right in the end, I suppose I just couldn't help myself from drawing edgy parallels. The earthquake was a shame, though.

There were multiple pirate hotspots in the Caribbean during the golden age. Port Royal was just one of them. Tortuga and Nassau were two other major pirate ports in the region and not all of them were Inhabited by pirates at the same time.
