who knew this would be the birth of vr controlls, honestly this was way ahead of its time and id love to pick one up and just check it out nowadays, as someone with an index and soon to own a vive pro eye, this seems like a nice bit of tech that really fell under the radar

@Tadddius These are the TrueMotion levels that come with the Razer Hydra Portal 2 Bundle. You can do all these stuff in those levels with the Hydra!

I could if I had one, and I wish I did, but I don't. And I don't have enough storage space on my laptop for Portal 2. But I wish I had both, or at least the latter, so I could try playing Portal 2 on a medium other than the X-Box 360.

@Valca000 - Razer has a partnership with Valve, so it's reasonable to assume that changes to the engine have been made in order for this hardware to work correctly.

I love the keyboard and mouse more than anything, but I'm all for experimenting with new control methods. Will probably be checking this out sometime in the future (it's a bit expensive, and upgrading the PC hardware must come first).

Combine this with Track Ir and you could make really involving games. Once I got used to using Track Ir for Arma 2 as a soldier (fps) I think it would be cool to play a adventure game where you controlled in first person with head tracking on the head and hand tracking (Razer) on the hands. Btw can you twist the controller like a rudder on a joystick?

The button placement and all seems really well done, I'm now only worried of how well actual "Turning" handles. In other waggle shooters aiming is done great but when you have to turn your guy to face something else it's always problematic. I hope it's taken to an account. One way would be to make use of the two sticks having the other used in horizontal turning.

@Daxter609 Wii motion+ is full 360 degree motion. It only relies on the sensor bar to point to stuff onscreen because that's the most accurate way to do that. It can do full 360 motion though.

@TheBusinessKids Just to clarify, yes these new features do work in the main campaign. However, they are of virtually no meaningful use to actual gameplay aside from minor convenience. First off, the extendo-beam feature has a maximum range. The distance which this guy stretches the turret into the beam is roughly as far as you can hold an object. This renders using the beam to solve puzzles rather a moot point. It's only useful when placing cores on Wheatley, which is trivial anyway.

Amazing concept. Gameplay mechanics with the remote look smooth and interesting, the remote it self looks quite responsive and polished, sure looks like a nice switch from a keyboard. Razor, I would indeed buy this is you had not slapped on that 140 dollar price tag. Even for science, that's a bit steep.

@SantisNight No, you need the controller. There's console commands and probably other workarounds that could allow you to use some of the functionality, but you need the controller for the DLC.

@BatmanASB Mount & Blade: warband is suppose to be supported right out of the box (from what is posted on razer site), which got better fencing model then current iteration of age of chivalry, number of attack motion is not better but it got a 4 direction parry system and the damage model is much better, for it is physic based damage system, so thing like the hit velocity and at which point of the motion the hit landed are gonna have an effect. It also include cavalry.

no it's a controller for your PC, and I mean I assume you get that DLC with the Portal 2 with hydra as a demo. In simple terms, I think it's exclusive to people with Hydra's

@gobbo53 No -.- This DLC was announced exclusively for Hydra, ages ago. There is another DLC coming with advanced maps and more coming in summer.

@kidofthecentury77 Out of the box support for over 125 both recent and old games. It will also come with a SDK/keymapping program for you to use on games that don't have out of the box support.

These features look a bit freaky. Stretching items looks really weird, though I guess it's one unique way to solve them. The ability to move items forward and backward is of interest though that certainly can be done with keyboard and mouse easier than stretching or rotating with it. Alternative controls like this and other peripherals for PC are genius, yet a bit too overhyped. Just an interesting video for people with special hardware though, along with new features.

When you first start using it, it is awkward to say the least. It takes practice not aim and move consistently. As for difficultly, some of the features do make finding the solution a bit more obtuse, especially when it comes to the portal rotation.

@Tadddius looks like a better version of the wii. It moves on the z, x, and y axis opposed to the wii's x and y. It respond better since it doesn't use a sensor bar that perceives actions though infrared. This is the equivalent of a mouse and keyboard and it already surpasses an entire console.

These levels look great and all, but what part of this can't I technically do with a standard gamepad or mouse+keyboard? Motion controllers are great when there're things you can't do with conventional input options, but this is just a gimmick.

@Aquaraider The price sucks yes, but the controller already is playable with 125 games, and more to come. I played the portal 2 addon today, and it was amazing. Some of the best features weren't even showed in this video! I loved the portal rotataing feature, also the puzzles became very different than in the original portal2.

@Daxter609 The reason is that the Wii U has minimal 3rd party support, and therefore not many games that utilize it. Luckily that will change with the WiiU. It's got just as much 3rd party support as the XBox 360 and PS3 and uses the Wii controllers. Look up "Wii motion + tech demo". It's a lot more capable than you'd think.

@Johnykun The WiiMote wishes it were this and the Wiimote can't do any of the degree motion shown here plus you can use it on pratically any game you want. The WiiMote is a onsight controller meaning it has to rely on a sensor bar/camera to detect the movements and it has to be insight which could be bad for people who don't have the setup. This has magnatism which is more accurate, can detect full 360 degree motion from every angle and doesn't require to be onsight, in range of base station.

looks cool the way you use it, there's lots of good games that will use this. Only thing that i am a bit pissed with is that it comes with portal 2 & i already bought it so unless i find some1 that will trade me a game for the portal 2 i will wait till this device is under 100$ or maybe they'll package another game instead? Hmmm, looks cool, just hope it's not a FLOP like the "P5 Glove" ended up to be.

I hated the L4D video but looking at this, it shows some pretty good potential. More stuff like this, less "play your games with more difficulty in control"
