Actually the candle was in fact lit, and the box did catch fire. You can see it right at the end of the shot

@promathia1 Watch it again carefully. At 0:32 I shoot the blue portal and it goes through the window and hits the wall. Then, I shoot the orange portal on another wall outside, and I step through into the room. It makes perfect sense...

You had the candle burning inside the box? :P You were very lucky to get the shot before the box caught fire (it was already burning a hole to it). (Having cardboard boxes or papers inside an oven was just script, that I can overlook as it did not translate into a real life hazard during production as the oven was not even on.)

@BallpenEater Meh I'm pretty good, portal effects are just really difficult. What freddiew is good at is knowing how to approach things to make them easiest to achieve. For instance, his portal video looks great, but my portal video uses much more complicated vfx.

Niice, if you decide to do anything like this again though try and make sure the alpha blending from the portal is a bit smoother, you're getting an ever so faint black border on it, it'll look loads better without it. Bit of light shining onto surrounding objects from the portal itself will also really make it mesh with the scene. I like the vignetting though, did you do any colour grading on it?

@BallpenEater buddy I never said anything that wasn't humble and I didn't say my video was better than his. What I meant was that while his video LOOKS better than mine, it wasn't as complicated, and if I had done the same as what he did I could probably make it look as good as he did. He is much better than me, but I'm still pretty good. That's what I meant.

@therondoshow I've finished the first about 12 times across PC and 360. Also the second at least 5 times across PC and 360. I have the soundtrack to Portal 2 on my iPod, I've completed Co-Op on 2 on the PC and solo'ed all Co-Op missions split screen on the xbox just to see if I could. All time trials finished on the fist on PC and about half on 360, least portal challenge maps complete on 360 and PC. I took part in the Portal 2 pre-launch event earning potatoes. cont. on post two.
