A woman wakes up in a room with no memory of who she is or how she got there... This is a short set in the world of the Portal video games created by Valve Software. Recommend viewing in HD in FULLSCREEN with sound UP...
@The Legendary Overlord I don't think surfaces needed to have moon dust, moon dust itself was just capable of conducting portals. So certain surfaces that don't conduct need moon dust paint, but many of the plain concrete walls in portal 2 conducted portals without paint.
Wilo Polis the walls in the test chamber might be. But several concrete walls in the cave Johnson area, which would have been built before they had moon rocks, still conducted portals. A handheld portal device isn’t super useful if it needs one type of specially designed walls to work.
I had no idea Dan (the guy who directed the short) is the same guy who directed 10 clover field lane and most recently Prey. That’s awesome to see he likes portal as well, hope your career goes far man, you got great talent:)
@Lalrivunga Hnamte I don't think so. Example, when you ride a bike and increase the speed, there is many force and pressure at front that will make you slow down. Even when there is no or low pressure or force below you when you falling from the portal, there may have a vacuum state below and above you that make you slow down if not float.
@@rosmah8925 do you even know what terminal velocity is? its the maximum velocity an object/human/etc can reach while free falling, there is no vacuum state as you'd be travelling through air not a vacuum chamber. Idk where/why you came up with that
3:07 "Do not look into the operational end of the device. Do not touch the operational end of the device. Do not partially or fully submerge the device in liquid."
Its actually “Do not look into the operational end of the device. Do not touch the operational end of the device. Do not submerge the device in liquid, even partially. And most importantly, under no circumstances should you...”
@@Chris_M-fn6yk Technically you're wrong too. It's actually "Do not touch the operational end of the device. Do not look directly at the operational end of the device. Do not submerge the device in liquid, even partially. Most importantly, under no circumstances should you..."
NOTE: If you use some of the broken subtitles (example, Russian) you can actually see that in the end it says "Do not take the portal device out of the laboratory."
No te rindas. La ergástula es oscura, la firme trama es de incesante hierro, pero en algún recodo de tu encierro puede haber un descuido, una hendidura. El camino es fatal como la flecha pero en las grietas está Dios, que acecha. JL Borges To english: Do not give up. The ergastula is dark, the firm plot is of incessant iron, but in some corner of your confinement There may be an oversight, a slit. The road is fatal as the arrow but in the cracks is God, who lurks.
I think that this is the first time this video has come across my feed since it first came out. The fact that the director of this would go on to direct media that would become major parts of pop culture absolutely astonishes me. Hell, even the way he put such a dramatic spin on what was just a puzzle game for people E-10+ is amazing. I love seeing the work of people who are now household names back when they first begun.
@@zombified_pariah7720 While the second one is technically superior and objectively better - the first portal was something new and different that anything before that.
@@zombified_pariah7720 the original portal actually aged fine. The graphics aren't terrible, the simple plot is fun, and it being shorter makes it super fun to blast through
@@user-vj2nt7jf7z Look I have as much respect for Portal 1 as you, but I remember playing it back in 2014 and EVEN THEN it felt like something a group of like 10 people put together in a week compared to Portal 2.
One of the best short films i have seen! They got the character of Chell down perfectly! She is very resourceful and extremely stubborn and doesn't give up, just like the game! 12/10!
“Hello, and again, welcome to the aperture science computer-aided enrichment centre. We hope your brief detention in the relaxation vault has been a pleasant one, your specimen has been processed, and we are now ready to begin the test proper. Before we start, however, keep in mind that although fun, and learning are the primary goal of all enrichment centre activities, serious injuries may occur, for your own safety, and the safety of others, please refrain from: (random gibberish) Stand back, the portal will open in 3... 2... 1...”

I only looked through the fan film about 3 times. but I think she noticed the stains on the wall where someone had put their hands on it repeatedly and thought to check it. It's similar to where she put her hands in the following scene.
fat cat In Portal 2 the world was destroyed, so that could be a reason. But I am sure that they wanted her as a test subject, same with the games also.
not really, there are plenty of flaws to this. The effects are pretty low quality(For any movie), the actor was bad, the practical effects were bad. The fact that she mastered the portal gun in a few seconds is not a really good way to start something off... It took most people at least 30 minutes to understand how the portal gun works in game... Then again this is only a RU-vid video...
Yes! Finally!! It came back around in the algorithm and I'm again blown away at just how much they were able to squeeze in with zero dialogue, amazing work!
At the 5 minute mark I was like, "oh come on all that amazing work put into it and you guys rush this greenscreen scene?!" but seconds later I was deeply humbled.
One little detail I think is really creative is that when she fires a portal, the wall cracks around the portal. It's a really subtle detail, and it didn't appear in the game, but I really like the sense of realism it lends. Well played, filmmakers! Well played indeed!
11 years have passed and this short film still a really good film and I wish studios like paramount could make a sequel movie for this just like what they did to Laura hasn't slept
Imagine hearing "Test Champer 1 Complete" in GLaDOS's voice before she hit the deceiving wall with her fist? Oh the chills that could've been. What a great short film. Must've worked so hard on this!
Yeah, I just figured Glados would’ve made a weight joke about this woman, seeing as she’s totally ripped. Something like “if your ears weren’t covered in fat you would still have a face and no tumors in it”
i really would have seen an ending like a computer writing something like "test results: time: longer than average, creativity: increasing. next test shedule: tomorrow..."
I remember seeing this when it first came out and really liking it, but now that I see it again, it bothers me that there are human guards. I know it adds to the sense of urgency, but the beauty of the game is that you're basically alone. It's still very well done. Shout out to The Totally Rad Show! My life hasn't been the same without it.
@@SyzygyNoon I'm pretty sure it's just the fact it will blind and/or vaporize your eyes. It's an experimental device and I wouldn't be surprised if it had side affects like that considering their bouncy gel eats your skeleton away
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OLqk4aqpXlQ.htmlm2s You have been detained in the relaxation vault for NINE......ZERO...ZER...ZERO...FOUR...ZERO.
All the non-portal fans seeing this and not knowing what's happening, then there's the portal fans just like **Laughs in moon dust** Edit: Guys, I accidentally inhaled it what do I do.
For those who don’t know the name of the film and don’t know about the portal series. The film is called “Portal: No Escape” made by Dan Trechenburge. It is a fan-made film made in 2011. For anyone who know about the portal series but wanted to find the film, it is available on RU-vid watch. Tho despite the lore inaccuracies, it is still a great film.
Some of these late recommendations seem normal considering they only pop up after I've searched for similar videos (like when you look up a specific motorcycle crash and suddenly every crash video on RU-vid is recommended). But I've looked up a lot of Portal videos and this is the first time I've seen this one recommended. Come on RU-vid, get better at reading my mind!
