...and while you're at it, I'd be most grateful if you'd visit and subscribe to the portBOWIE RU-vid channel! Much more stuff there, including footage from the concerts since this one. Again, thanks!
Absolutely brilliant, I really loved this bands live renditions of Blackstar. A truly moving tribute. Awesome musicians and the lead vocals were very moving. 😢
So far, I have never been touched on Bowie covers. It only happened when he himself sings, sang. And here I cried. Something incredibly amazing. Only now have I discovered such a gem. Beautiful. Piękne. ♥
Thank you so very much! Such kind words ... I'm happy that this hit something. And I know what you mean; you can't really see it in this video, but the last part of "Dollar Days" I was in tears playing it. this band, portBOWIE, has its own RU-vid page with so many more videos, so please check it out! Thanks again!
Perfect, I have no words! One of the best tribute to the genius who left us. Thank you Mr Bowie, we miss your charismatic presence, your music, your kindness 🙏🎵🎶 With lots of love and thanks to all of you ❣️ please do come to Switzerland to perform 😉
Cam, thanks so much! If you'd like to see more videos of us, including some new ones from our show this past April, go to the portBOWIE RU-vid channel - and please subscribe! Thanks for the kind words...we're not at the point yet where we're doing anything for touring, but time will tell...!
Absolutely amazing thank you very much to all the musicians here playing with a new idea in an lp that is & will always be important I take my hat off to any musicians who take "black star " on Absolutely fair play Bless u all I've witnessed another bowie act do "black star " tracks I was @ the front of the stage I was totally blown away Thank you again peace u lovely guys
So very kind of you! Glad you enjoyed it. Feel free to watch other videos we've done on the portBOWIE RU-vid page; there are quite a few of them. Thank you so much for the love!
Amazing band. The best Bowie tribute band so far. I would argue you guys play better than the Mike Garson Bowie Tribute. Love how vocals are are tribute rather than an attempt to impersonate David. If you ever hit their would gladly pay to see you guys.
How in the world did you manage to sound exactly like Bowie's instrumental?! Especially in "Sue" Absolutely incredible work, guys, you nailed the whole album
Eugene Lir Thank you so much! It was a lot of work from very dedicated musicians . Our other little secret is that we had a sound engineer that we worked in advance with who was also a massive fan of the album. He made it his mission to match the sonic characteristics of the album from E.Q. to effects during the live mix. He was ever bit as integral to the show as any of us on stage!
Ditto what Mat said. This was a labor of love for us, and we each took it upon our shoulders to be as accurate as we could. For me, at least, this was one of the pinnacles of my career.
I was at this show. The guitarist on the right was drunk as fuck but having a hell of a time. My favorite band member is the guitarist on the left, who me and my roommate affectionately nicknamed "Math Teacher" after that night.
Jerry definitely was not drunk but he does love to rock out like crazy! This show was actually the first time he and I ever performed together. We had rehearsed a lot but I didn’t know this wild man was gonna come out on stage! The truth is, music like this is just too difficult to play to get messed up in any way before a show.
@@avaboot Mark Guiliana. He's exceptional, a real creative force. Recreating his parts (a couple of which were him reproducing what Bowie wrote on a drum machine to begin with) was a HUGE challenge. I had played some drum 'n' bass stuff before in my career, so Sue wasn't actually the TOUGHEST part of the show, but the whole thing was intense. I consider it to be one of the highlights of my entire career.
