In this video I figure out what's all going on with this Porter Cable generator. The first issue is a bent pushrod, and after I replace the pushrod I find out what likely happened since the throttle was stuck wide open. After some toil and trouble I finally am able to get the governor working again.

I’ve straightened quite a few of those pushrods. But it’s better to just order the steel one and junk that aluminum one.

Those cheap kill switch break and don’t work, I usually disconnect it first thing plus install new one Love these simple generators with plastic tanks

I have this same generator and I add a tad of atf to gas to store it to lube up valve guides Then install new plug I get so busy in summer I forget to fix my stuff

I have considered using the bent rods as well but like you in doesn't feel right and I order new ones. Sometimes a person is tested by one machine.

I was not expecting the governor issues, some of the strangest governor issues I have. But I got it figured out, just took some time!

The tray that you use for carb. work is very dirty , the tray will make the carb dirty . ALWAYS work on clean trays and rags when working on carburetors . It does not take much dirt to screw up a carb. You should know this by now .

That's the one thing I haven't been in the habit of cleaning yet. I think this one had varnish in the brass jet that I didn't get scraped out. It's a Nikki carb anyways so getting it right is always a challenge.
