I’ve never had to decide as to whether I prefer opera or jazz singing.....from the same artist....until Madame Fleming started to show her Jazz chops. My goodness....this kind of talent shouldn’t be legal lol. This woman is my absolute favorite artist....period.

I hate when they change the lyrics ... as if we're just too damned stupid to know that El Morocco and "21" were popular Manhattan nightclubs in their day. Give us a little credit, Renée

at least she pronounces "pet pailletted" correctly - most singers don't come close

Unusual Fleming. But Lisa Stansfield’s version is the standard, I think, and truly swings.

Best track on the album. But Decca really should have put more into producing this video...

Great moments of opera Yes my absolut favourite tune right now. I too wonder why this project does not really get the means it deserves. Lip-syncing is really hard and she probably did not get that many chances to get it right. You can tell she relaxes after a while and so they could have taken a few more takes or made a few more cuts and it would’ve made a better impression. But I do like the style and looove the singing. Haunted heart-cd is going on repeat in my car since I don’t know when.😉❤️🎶❤️

@@chaan280 I guess I'm not that sophisticated. I loved the video and didn't see a problem with it. I didn't even notice that lip-syncing was going on. Who'd have thought an operatic soprano would have such a gorgeous lower range singing jazz?

At about 1:55, it sounds like she is trying to channel Billie Holiday--not the right sound for her, IMHO.

Why would Renee Fleming want to channel Billie Holiday?
