Hi all,
Here we see Porthminster again after a four-year hiatus between drinks in seeing this impressive layout in operation.
Fellow BRMA (British Railway Modellers of Australia SA Division) members descended on BRMA member John's private residence to see Gavin Thrum's impressive depiction of the GWR in the 1920s & 30s.
Most models on this layout have been hand or kit built including the massive Brunel era wooden viaduct model that real-life would've carried 7ft 1/4in lines from the 1830s to 1892 when this branch line to St. Ives was standardised along with other key lines on the GWR system.
This model railway depicts a junction station on the mainline between London & Penzance which served the St. Ives branch as mentioned.
The aptly named Cornish Mainline called at locations such as Exeter St. Davids, Newton Abbot, Plymouth & Truro just to name a few before heading to the most Southern tip of the British Isles at Penzance.
More Porthminster action will be coming soon.
I hope you enjoy!
