I´m porting a KX250 cylinder, it has been a lot of work.
I cut open the transfers to reach them from outside, welded up material to be able to get the shape i want.
Mods have been done to the cooling also, cut that open, deleted the exhaustports and i have rerouted the cooling to cool the exhaustduct instead.
Cylinder is also chopped to suit my shortstroke crank(61mm)
It is far from done in the video, it is just a teaser of what is beeing done at the moment.

Parabéns!! Acabaste de estragar um cilindro! foste perto demais de um dos 4 orifícios nos quais passam as varas com ponta de rosca, que servem para fixar o cilindro ao cárter! Vai deixar passar compressão.. 😔

Congratulations, you just made a conclusion before knowing the fact that this cylinder produced 70+ on methanol....

Holy smokes dude! Just skipping around with that thing! Brutal tool manipulation. 😬 Slow the bit down & it will cut better. All that bit speed causes annealling of the metal. Basically getting the aluminum hot which makes the aluminum harder. This makes it cutvharder & the bit cuts more choppy.

I figured that out within 2 minutes of porting out my boys cr85. Slow speed cut way better.

I´ve been porting cylinders and heads for about 30years now, and for a long time ago i came to a conclusion: it´s the results that count, not how it is done.

Porting is great, just don't polish

Polish only the exhaust.

I always polish the exhaust side including power valve flaps so the carbon doesn’t stick as easily. It makes a big difference. Those generation of 2T bikes had a lot of cat $hit left behind from the casting flaws.

Thats not porting that is just cutting out metal.

Well, i dynoed that cylinder way more than others do, and to get that performance, you need to hog out some material. Ofcourse i made some more delicate work after this, but don´t want to show that.

@@Patricks_Projects am surprised it even ran again , you can tell someone who makes big figures by how they have the workshop . Cluttered workshop , cluttered mind , crap running motor is usually the case . workshop kept clean like a surgery, a surgeons thinking and approach gets performance produced . The fact you don’t have a barrel already tested and your copying it but say this barrel straight away made made 70 whp on methanol is fictional , do you know how many barrels you have to go through before you can get close to what you need ? Many and slight variations make massive amounts of difference in every barrel . Even mugen go through a hundred barrels to find a sweet spot one that works right , all ten barrel mods might have 10 variations of slightly tweaking that mod . Just that one barrel out of a hundred will stand out miles above the rest .

@@pauldean8638 Yes, this surely was my first cylinder ever,,,,,,, :D Did you read the videodescription? Somewhere i wrote: far from done. I let it sing all the way to 13200rpm, peak power was at 12800rpm if i remember correctly. But i had problems keeping the head on, it pulled the threads out of the cylinder. So the cylinder sits on a shelf in my dirty shop =) Later on i ported an more oem like cylinder and it made 68rwhp at 12600rpm. Remember i did destroke it to 61mm from 72mm. There is a vid in my channel dynoing it.
