This whole album is great. You can hang and smoke with good friends to it. You can sit alone and reminisce to it. You can make love to it. The whole thing.
It's one of the best albums I've ever heard. Very consistent. With that said, I STILL can't listen to the smashing pumpkins, as they were played absolutely. Fucking. Every. Fucking where in the nineties. It's been decades, and I STILL haven't recovered. But haven't listened to this in ages: it's timeless. I did hear a smashing pumpkins song a couple of months back: and ALMOST wanted to play it. But then remembered I had an important root canal at that exact time.
This band is just pure bliss. Bristol has a magical way of producing outstanding musicians. Just gotta say Portishead, Massive Attack, Tricky, Roni Size, Smith and Mighty, Kosheen and new acts coming on the scene like dub steppers Pinch, Appleblim and more alternative artists like AllFlaws
You're lucky if you buy an album and find three really good songs on it. Glory box is just one treasure from an album packed full of gems. Superb stuff indeed.
Nah... the source of the Trip-Hop we all love would be Tricky and Massive Attack. Doesn't stop Portishead getting much much respect, such Beth, so Pedestal
From all the re-imagined versions of les fleurs, i think this is hands down the best.. And it proves the gifted, don't care what period of time, always contemporary music style of Portishead.
I'm so tired of playing Playing with this bow and arrow Gonna give my heart away Leave it to the other girls to play For I've been a temptress too long Just... Give me a reason to love you Give me a reason to be a woman I just wanna be a woman From this time, unchained We're all looking at a different picture Through this new frame of mind A thousand flowers could bloom Move over and give us some room Give me a reason to love you Give me a reason to be a woman I just wanna be a woman [INSTRUMENTAL] So don't you stop being a man Just take a little look from outside when you can Show a little tenderness No matter if you cry Give me a reason to love you Give me a reason to be a woman It's all I wanna be is all woman For this is the beginning of forever and ever It's time to move over...
Michelle Antoine somebody told me P-head was Shoe gaze genre....I said maybe if you're standing behind a stripper while checking out her 4" platforms (en flagrante, bien sur)
Same exact sample. Funny thing, both Tricky and Portishead sampled the same part at the same time without knowing of each other. It's from an Isaac Hayes track.
The sample has been used numerous times, most recently by I monster, Tricky and lupe fiasco, Portishead used the sample from from Isaac heyes' Ike rap 2 which was in turn sampled from "Day Dream" performed by the Gunter Kallmann Chorus, which is a cover of a wallace collection song, :)
stendeb very interesting. Never knew that. Always thought portishead was first. And I swear portishead had an earlier version of this song to before glorybox
love to see that people are helping each other with trip hop, where I live people haven't even heard about trip hop and the girl I was in love with played it to me, this isn't music for anyone
This track send me straight back to the streets of Aalborg. Wandering restless, without reason down the streets. I just wanna be. Wanna be. In a frame of me I see. I see the who I'm not. Give me a reason to love you. To love. Silos rising, intersections cross. Crossing intersections. In the beginning of forever, this is the beginning. Forever and ever. Time to move over. Shit, this track is so bound to my emotions, my history, my everything. Peace out people. Love from Denmark.
A few days ago, I dug up an old equalizer one of my friends gave to me years ago. Since I had the attachments I needed, I tried it out, and it worked wonderfully, so I started calling it the "glory box". Then today, by pure coincidence, I find this song. I'm calling divine intervention.
