I'll always remember the first time I heard Portishead was on the way to Iraq and the dude I was sitting and practically laying on had this song on his mp3 player. Before the ipod came out. Her voice touched a part of my soul I didn't know existed.

I was there in 2007 (with an iPod though) in Basra and regularly look up tracks I listened to back then. Linkin Park and the lost prophets provided the main soundtracks for that tour. Listening takes me right back to that era. Respect from 🇬🇧

This is what this song means to me right now… Sometimes in life, we fight for our own personal convictions that, after much reflection are justified, correct. But when we actually try to advocate for them to bring positive change to the world, we end up discovering that we are actually fighting that battle alone and no allies come to our aid. It’s just you facing the storm alone, it’s depressing and demoralizing. But we must perservere none the less.

You assumed they were automatically evil just because of that viewpoint. Please don’t do that. We all know that intolerance can run deep when discussing things from that point of view. We all understand that believers of many faiths default to using the stick of damnation in response to an atheist world view. There is much to be said for reframing God’s love for every person to reach out to those with different beliefs in good faith. Bringing out the hellfire feels like a threat. I’m tired of seeing this personally. It gets in the way of intellectual discourse.

я познакомился с этой песней в сериале вызов. она реально захлестнула душу и заставила думать о том, что я могу оставить своим потомкам.... быт, хитрости для выживания или просто стреляй в чужих, - ибо они поменяют правила по своему и ты протух, но всегда есть шансы надеяться на пограничников - эти парни не пропустят, что им не по душе. или пропустят? в чем их цель? дать денег тем, кто и так богат или защитить от безработицы их жен и матерей?
