After I connect my Sony A7iv to this monitor via WiFi it doesn’t mirror my camera monitor. And also my menu system looks totally different from every video that I’ve seen with this monitor. I actually sent back the first LH5P II because I thought it was defective because it was not displaying the image from my camera but I was able to control the settings like record, shutter, etc. But again the menu on my Portkeys monitor looks completely different than everyone else’s. For example I can’t swipe left, right, up or down. I’m super confused because I can’t find anyone with the same issues. I’m thinking it’s user error now since this is my second monitor. But again the menu looks completely different. I don’t know if you can help but any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks Pav for this excellent review. Looking to purchase now, appears to be sold out everywhere for over a month. Any thoughts on this? Also the two most scathing (bad) reviews on Amazon have to do with overheating. What are your thoughts on this now that you've had it for over a year. How big an issue would this be on a sunny summer day?
I have used this one and the bigger LH7P with a7IV and a7sIII and never had any major problems with the cameras connecting to the monitor quickly. Maybe once or twice I had to switch both off and on again and it worked again
@@PavSZ interesting, thats really good to hear! i just saw the price of the lh5p though and thats far more than i would want to spend to just get touch focs :(
Thanks for you video. I followed almost all your reviews. A qq. I am in the market to buy monitor for my automotive videography. Should i go for - Portkeys LH5p ii - Ninja Atmos 5 / 5+ thanks in advance !
hey! Thanks for watching my videos. You can't compare these two directly. Totally different price and class monitors. One that is just a monitor with touch control of some of the cameras and the other is a SSD recorder as well. It will all depend on your budget, your camera and personal preference
I cant figure out how to connect to get it to wirelessly control my A7iii. Every time I connect via wifi none of the camera control options show. Do you know what im doing wrong?
Good morning I have an LH5p II monitor and a Sony A7sIII When using to record video all ok. But when I go to take pictures with the Wifi on. The camera keeps recording a photo on the camera's internal SSD for several minutes, crashing the entire system. When I turn off the Wifi on the monitor everything goes back to normal. It seems that the camera wants to record the photos on the monitor and cannot. Anyone else with this problem? thanks
swipe down, connect the camera via wifi and then select 'focus'. The touch focus should work then. It also works better once you select zone or point focusing mode in your camera (that can be selected via the monitor as well)
How does this PortKeys compare with an iPhone running Monitor+? On a Sony Monitor+ connects to the camera via wifi. Touch focus works well. LUTS, false color, and focus peaking are all there too. An iPhone also seems to compare favorably wrt to NITS as well. It would be great to see some commentary on this as youtube videos on Monitor+ are doing very well.
Good morning, I've recently discovered your channel this year and I'm enjoying your content. Question please.... I shoot very often with two cameras. A7s3 and A74. I shoot with a Tamron 1.4 35 mark 2 and the Sigma 1.4 85. I ensure the pic profiles are the same and the white balance is the same. However...the 85 always makes skin look a litttttttttle green. Do you a) know why this is or / and b) do you have a video on this I can link to please? Thanks Lee
I shoot with those two cameras often at the same time too. What you are describing is very common. All lenses (even sometimes those from the same brand) have different characteristics and capture colour and contrast differently. This usually is fairly easy to fix in post
@@PavSZ yes. I've been correcting the white balance in lightroom. Thankfully it does fix the issue. Keep up the good work. I'm hoping Sigma release the 70-200 soon 🙏🏻
Great video! I have the Sony FX3 and also the A7IV and I want this monitor. Noticing some differences in the way B&H and Amazon sell this same monitor. Need some advice from people who have purchased this monitor. B&H sells multiple different versions of this monitor? This implies that you need a specific version of this monitor to be compatible with your specific brand of camera and it's not in stock for Sony cameras either so you must wait 2-4 weeks for it. The same exact make and model monitor is advertised as in stock on Amazon for the same price but it says that their single advertised model is: "Compatible with Canon, Sony, Panasonic, BMPCC, ZCam and Gimbals." Can't find the reasoning for this on either website or the web. Can someone smarter than me please help me figure this out??????????????
@@PavSZ It doesn’t work for me and Port Key support is silent, they don’t say anything, I’m waiting ..... although there is my camera model in the instructions ...
@@PavSZ It’s a pity, the port case is also looking for a camera to check, although I thought such a company should have test checks before selling, I can’t control the camera, but it’s stated in the instructions, I can’t find information on the Internet either, only about GH 6 - to it immediately connects, but it doesn’t gh5s connect to mine
3.1 million views on my channel and you are the first one to say it. You didn't have to watch it but thank for stopping by and commenting anyway. Love you
