Why this is the BEST monitor for BMPCC 4K/6K

Since the recording of this video Blackmagic Design have released the BMPCC 6K G2 with a flip screen, so I guess the Portkeys LH5P is only the best monitor for the BMPCC 4K now although I still use a monitor with the BMPCC 6K Pro on nearly every shoot.

Hi Chris, thanks for the review! You could long press the Exit button to turn on/off the touch screen function. And the antenna, the location of the LH5P II antenna was different from LH5P, we have also redesigned it on BM5WR. Both of them could be put in the case with the antenna screw on. Thanks for the info on the long press to turn on/off the touch screen. I didn't know that. Any chance of a software update to add Arri false color to the LH5P, please?

I've updated the monitor to the latest firmware and there is still no Arri False color in it. Is it possible this is something you could include???? It would be most appreciated.

Looks like there might be a 7 inch version soon ...and also long press the false color and you can adjust it a little

Very informative! I use false color all the time and seeing this monitor uses different type of color is going to throw me off. Does the LH5P 2 use the same false colors as black magic monitor?

I believe it is only the more expensive BM5 III that has the Arri false colour option - which is very similar to the one BM use.

Great review! Question though. I'm struggling with focus on the native screen, my vision is deteriorating. Would this help? It's almost the same size as the native screen. Or should I go for a 7'?

If your eyes are deteriorating I'd go with a 7' monitor. Portkeys make a couple themselves, although I've never used them I'd imagine they're good quality. I've never noticed a dramatic difference between the back of the camera monitor and any external 5' monitor in terms of picture quality - they can be a lot brighter which helps in daylight and being able to change the viewing angle could help with visibility but I think a bigger screen would have a bigger impact. Remember you can increase the strength of your focus assist in the settings of the camera and that double tapping the screen zooms in x2 for help with checking focus.

I have the LH5P ii monitor but cannot use the focus function or zoom with the BMPCC 6K G2, did you find this or that it worked ok? I'm using it with the Sigma 18-35 F1.8. Would it only work with that lens if it is set to AF?

I’ve not had that problem. Are you talking about actually zooming the lens or just magnifying the image on screen?

Found the solution, in case you still have it or for the persons stepping by, you have to uncheck the AF button before updating the firmware of the metabones !

I don't believe you can change the audio, only monitor it. You can pinch to zoom for better focus

Funny enough I went on B and H and it’s discontinued. Apparently there’s a LH5P mark 2 out. It’s on Amazon.

5.5" is simply too small in my opinion. I'd rather use the built-in screen if I was going that small.

It should do. Depends if anything else is broken inside the camera. It can't control everything though. Like, you can't format the cards with this. I'd contact BM about the screen and get it fixed. They are normally pretty good about it.
