PORTLAND "Joan of Arc" tour debut, Leonard Cohen with Hattie Webb, Nov 11.12 Rose Garden Arena 

The first time I ever heard Leonard Cohen was from Austin City Limits in 1986 or 87. He sang this with Julie Christiansen.. I've been hooked forever. Finally saw him live in Atlanta a few weeks ago.

Each of the three concerts I have attended have NOT included this classic, one of his best, most memorable of poem songs, I even called out for it, as did many others, during the curtain call standing ovations......listen to the duet with BAEZ ! OMG!

I was honored to see Mr. Cohen (and all these wonderful artist) in Atlanta the other week. I was so overtaken the first ten minutes of the concert with emotion. Just beautiful.

Now the flames they followed Joan of Arc as she came riding through the dark; no moon to keep her armour bright, no man to get her through this dark and smoky night. She said, "I'm tired of the war, I want the kind of work I had before, a wedding dress, something white to wear upon my swollen appetite."

It was deep into his fiery heart he took the dust of Joan of Arc, and then she clearly understood if he was fire, oh then she must be wood. I saw her wince, I saw her cry, I saw the glory in her eye. Myself, I long for love and light, but must it come so cruel, and oh so bright?

Hattie Webb did a good job - though wouldn't it be great if jennifer warnes reappeared on stage and did the duet and failing that i'd like to hear sharon take the female lead ! Really hope to hear him sing it live at one of the several concerts i hope to attend this year (2013!)
