Danzig is such a natural onscreen. He's not trying too hard and he's funny. Ran into him at the Japanese market right when Covid was starting. He was like two people ahead of me in line at the check stand. I couldn't see what he was buying unfortunately. I had that moment. I mean, that's Glenn Danzig in the flesh just a few feet away from you, and I was the only one who noticed being that we were in a completely random place and the Japanese shoppers and workers had no idea who he was. I couldn't resist. I called out, "Glenn!" He turned his head and I raised my fist in salute. A huge grin played across his face and he asked how I was holding up in all this madness. He took the time to have a nice little chat with a fan. Such a cool guy. Misfits forever.
"Do not kill the part of you which is cringey, kill the part which cringes" Sometimes the best way to have fun is to stop caring about things like pride or vanity and just enjoy yourself. Keeping up appearances and expectations 24/7 is a drag - let loose, be dumb for a change, just have fun.
@@capnsmashem3284 he was about as close as the name getting brought up, a phone call where he basically ruined his own chances by demanding to have creative control of the character and no call back. Then Dougray Scott was cast about 2 weeks later.....couldnt do it and.....the rest is history
I fucking love seeing Danzig so lighthearted. It's such a good look for him. He's a fucking legend and his contributions to punk/metal are undeniable. I laugh at a good Danzig meme as much as the next person, but I recognize him as the talented guy he is and give him his dues. He deserves that.
Your absolutely right, his influence cannot be measured One of the times I saw him in KC, I was front row(as always), he was giving high fives to everyone at the end. I jumped up and our hands connected in a handshake. It felt like it lasted for a few hours. I think I floated back down to level ground after he let go. Thats my Danzig story
Danzig inspired countless artists with the misfits, worked with legends and wrote songs for them and people still being up that a dude 2x his size and half his age egged him on with his buddy recording and then dropped him to his knees with a punch. And Danzig got back up instantly at 50 something years old. The people who bring it up either never had a fight or never got hit hard in the face. “He got Ktfo loser rotflmao pussy lulz” -Stranger makes eye contact at gas station *quickly looks down and panics*
Nah, you got the wrong guy. It's Glenn from Joy-zee. We are 138 when death comes ripping in my grip the kiss of steel twist of cain and snakes of Christ will kiss the skull.
He clearly stated that the goth guy would be the one to have to dress lame to have fun, he didn't say anything about himself or the girl having to dress lame. It's almost like he carried that trunk all the way from Romania, just to get goths (or possibly just that one) to make him look more awesome wile drinking his wine on the beach.
+Surfact Antivist Who? That's why he wins, nobody knows who the fuck your talking about! Did you know he wrote a song and used to hang out with the legendary Johnny Cash! Win #2 dick head!
He has the look but he is not an actor and it would've been terrible. Chances are X-Men would've never been successful if he were cast as Wolverine. Jackman, which not the right build, has been great as the character.. I remember when Wizard magazine had him as their dream pick for Wolverine...and MTV's Matt Pinfield for Kingpin. Again, looks...yes, acting no
I went to Dragon-Con back when Danzig was promoting his comic book line (Verotik) and asked the lady running the booth if they were selling any t-shirts. She said, "Why don't you ask Glen?" and pointed next to her. I looked over and he was standing right there about two feet away yet I didn't even see him a second ago. He just appeared out of nowhere! He's really short and wouldn't look me in the eye.
great comedy piece , Glenn had me laughing when he said billabong while trying to keep a straight face, & goth couple were funny when they made their scary face freeze expressions.
This is a healthy attitude. You are not your clothes, they're an extension of you. If you think what you wear makes you who you are, you're doing it wrong. :P
null null yeah just how tattoos, makeup, piercings, hairstyles, etc also don’t make a person who they are. I wish kids knew this better and worked on their personalities a little more.
@John Volken Agree… most people don't know Goths who are really active in the scene and therefore have strange misconceptions, one of them that we somehow can't "fit in" or that we let or looks and clothes define us. Having been active in it for a while and going to concerts you see all kinds of people. Many of them come in "normal" clothes, others dress up for the evening and have a "normal" life with a good job. My impression is that "alt" folk are much more adaptive to their environment (when required) than most people believe, sometimes even more so than those insufferable "I cannot be put into a box or scene, because I wear "normal" clothes, like Adidas" people.
Iactually really like the show itself, but Glenn has always had a sense of humor as far as I have seen. People have this one specific view of him, but I have met him several times and he was always nice or laughing, or calm and quiet even.
people regurgitate popular opinion when they don't know what the fuck they are talking about, this is why someone as crooked as Hillary Clinton could run for president etc.
I have the first dollar bill ever signed by Danzig. Met him after a show and didn't have anything for him to sign so I pulled that out. He was actually really nice. It was 26 years ago and I still have it.
i'm not goth or vampire ,just a guy who like metal and hates the sun ,i only ever go out in the day time if i need to,i work graveyards at my job (i asked for them btw) i love the night sky,the night air and i find the sunlight unpleasant as far as black goes i have worn black since i was 6 years old and feel uncomfortable in any other color,i don't drink blood ,kill people or worship the devil and i don't sleep in a coffin (too expensive anyway)
OMG, this so reminds me of baking to death in my goth attire in the 90's 😂 Sure wish Glen would've come to save me that day I passed out setting up the neighbor's pool.
I think he played a short cameo scene in one of The Crow sequels. I like the attitude towards one having a true gothic heart in the scene with he and his friend. It shows it doesn't matter how you look or what you do. You have the heart.
The book he is reading is "cradle to cradle". It is a conceptual book that goes beyond reduce reuse recycle for a better way of consuming our resources globally. The book itself is nigh indestructible. You'd have to literally chop it with an axe or set it on fire with gas to hurt it. I tested it by getting mud all in the pages and stomped on it, then washed it off it's practically undamaged.
