Hi there, we've been enjoying watching this. It's so good to discover how we can share and learn so much from each other through channels such as yours. Look forward to more from you.
The boat is not a "Gondola" it's a "Rebelo boat" and they were used to move crates and barrels of wine up and down the river from the vineyards in Trás Os Montes to the comercial port in Porto. It kinda looks like a Gondola but they are way bigger since they were used for shipping cargo
+Rui Almeida, I think Gaia should do more to stand on its own. After all it's where pretty much all the Port wine cellars are located. In almost every of these foreign videos about Porto I've watched it's said that the city is divided by the river Douro. Btw, I'm portuguese but for the sake of discussion I wrote in English. ; )
+Module79L You're absolutely right. Usualy people refere to the metropolitan area as Porto, and it's commonly mistaken for the city. Almost every city in the metropolitan area is dependable on some aspect or another of the other cities - Matosinhos has Leixões, Maia has the airport, Gaia has the cellars as well as the pier, and Porto has all of the services and tourism.
Nice video! But "tapas" is a spanish word, if you go to a portuguese restaurant you should order "petiscos". Many restaurants accept the word tapas just because Internationly is a recognize. It has business benefits for some places, but I saw many review online plataforms categorizing Portuguese restaurants as Spanish Restaurants just because they use the word "Tapas" intsead of "Petiscos".
Nice post but one important remark Mark: there's no such thing as Tapas in Porto or in Portugal... for that you would need to go to Spain :-( Not the same country, not the same language, NOT the same culinary traditions.
need to say that the left side of Porto, is city of Gaia!!! OK?!?! Low documentary... best images catch is from the city of Gaia to see Porto!!! Best wine Porto Wine is in Gaia.
Gondola??!! It's Rabêlo BOat! Also, if you were talking about the TELEFÉRICO, you´re wrong again.Maybe in America there are Gondolas that don't move on water, but not in Europe. "tapas"??!! Tapas is a SPANISH word for some special food.WE Are Portuguese!Pôrto is The NOrth Capital of PORTUGAL. All those mistakes shows that you don't understand or Know a bit of Pôrto or Portugal. Prepare yourself better, starting by RESPECTING a Nation as Old as , at least, 9 Centuries.
