Isn't it better to draw from eye measure and not exactly measuring the proportions?, I think that would give the portrait a more personalised touch and could look livelier?
drawing a portrait is all about measurement. If you can eye it out perfectly. You really good but if you want an exact likeness, measure it. Most time though, you wont be drawing it same size as picture. You can use proportional dividers.
Thank you so much, you are an awesome teacher! But I have a question. What if the proportiona for measurement on the reference doesn't match? I have a photo of Megan Fox I want to have as a reference but there is lot of hair and stuff and I am not ablemto measure properly. What should I do? It is a picture taken from the Transformers 2 movie
I think that you are trying to see the portion of the face that had been covered by her hair. You first need to measure the size of the shapes first, the hair area is one shape compare to the shape of the visible face. After you measured the big shapes then measure the proportions within each shapes...
That's a pretty negative way of putting it. I think it's a "beautifully happy" child which is how all kids should be. Exuding joy. If only adults could get some of that once in a while.
