This year is to be a shame! They robbed Portugal, in the music they did with the countries of this semi final, when that video came out of performances from previous years those of Portugal did not even see each other! a horrible shame! And how did you get to San Marino in the final? WTF

I'm an artist myself and so I've always been interested in urban art that's been happening in Portugal for a good decade or maybe 20 years at this point, I don't even know the name of the style / movement it represents, but it's been here for a while, very underground, but I've always been fascinated by it. It's a mix of hard culture from the past with a very futuristic vision, a celebration of art and life through sorrow, almost as it was inspired by fado. Conan grabs it all, puts it in a blender perfectly and represented it PERFECTLY. It honestly makes me proud of what we delivered there as a country. Conan is a brilliant artist. And most people don't understand it now, but it's gonna be referenced in the future art books as a iconic moment of a certain art movement.

The staging and messaging was lost from the National Final to Eurovision, sorry! Certain things just don't work on a massive stage like Eurovision

@Piotr Sawicki Don't get me wrong, I love this song, it was in my Top 5 in 2019 and I was gutted that it didn't make it to the final. But what made me fall in love with this entry was the National Final performance and not the actual Eurovision Semi-Final performance. When you look back at the National final, the entire performance is mesmerising, visually arresting and the messaging is clear even if you don't understand the lyrics. The vocals, outfits, choreography and staging Eurovision SF performance to me was notably not as good as in previous performances. On the night, the majority of viewers are not Eurovision superfans, they don't know the history of the song or have the opportunity to fall in love with better past performances from Conan, so yeh I see why this song didn't qualify!

No, just no. Had you said that Portugal sends Fado-influenced songs, that would be at least debatable. However, modern vibes or not, Portugal hasn't sent a Fado tune to the Eurovision in ages. I'm not the biggest Fado listener *by any means*, but this isn't Fado either. Glad you're learning Portuguese, though! Not an easy language (sometimes, not even for native speakers). I think the thing with the song is that you need to listen to it two times because it's the kind that attracts you at the first listen but then grows on you at the second. Personally, I first listened to it during the semi-final (I prefer to not listen to the entries before that) and I found it odd bht mesmerising in some way. Then I downloaded the song and that's when I was like, damn, this is really good.

Raymond Konstantine Well I like all songs first of all in a way. Like even “bad” songs like Montenegro was a song that was tried their best on and enjoyed with. I really liked Australia this night with the staging she had, and her vocals were on point. I would also say someone like Serbia who surprised me in a good way. She had beautiful staging and her vocals were one of the best as well. And even the crazy performances like Iceland, Portugal and Poland etc. might be enjoyable. I really liked Iceland though since I really like how they went with metal/bdsm and even though some might see it as “screaming” I bet half of these people couldn’t even perform that in the first place. But I didn’t say Portugal was bad. I just said we should judge it as a song since it is a song contest and not as an art contest. Of course lyrical value and the meaning are parts of a song but it doesn’t make a song good. This is the same with for example etnicity, gender etc. They have those meanings but meanings aren’t exactly what defines a song and that is why I enjoy most songs in a different way. Some are lyrically better, others have better vocals etc.
