A recent dip into the ebay vault yielded these scenes of the now-closed narrow gauge lines through the Tua and Cargo river valleys in Portugal. No dates on the film, but I believe it's the late 70s or early 80s. Super 8 silent film with sound added from my video library. Enjoy!

Good work adding the sound. The Mallet locomotives were somewhat special in having a 2-4-6-0 wheel arrangement. The scenery of these lines was beautiful, sad that they have been closed now. The diesel on the broad gauge (1668mm) was an English Electric built 1400 class, technically similar to BR class 20. The narrow gauge was metre gauge or approximately 3'3"

Of course they closed it. Its way to cool to save. Stupid humans.😢 Lets buy it back, & tour line it. Make a million. Maybe.

As much as I love railways you have to know that they are just machines they're built to serve a purpose and when they no longer can, they get sold or scrapped not every locomotive can be preserved not every old railway can be turned into a tourist line they are built to work and if they are lucky they get preserved if not well that's that.
