Lyrics:
Save me, I can't be saved
I won't
I'm a president's son
I don't need no soul
All the soldiers say
"It'll be alright,
We may make it through the war
If we make it through the night."
All the people, they say:
"What a lovely day, yeah, we won the war.
May have lost a million men, but we've got a million more."
All the people, they say.
Share with me all of your pain
I won't
Share your love
I need all your love
All the soldiers say
"It'll be alright,
We may make it through the war
If we make it through the night."
All the people, they say:
"What a lovely day, yeah, we won the war.
May have lost a million men, but we've got a million more."
All the people, they say.
Save me, I can't be saved
I won't
I don't need no love
I'm a president's son
All the soldiers say
"It'll be alright,
We may make it through the war
If we make it through the night."
All the people, they say:
"What a lovely day, yeah, we won the war.
May have lost a million men, but we've got a million more."
All the people, they say
It'll be alright, It'll be alright
It'll be right now
It'll be alright, It'll be alright
It'll be right now
It'll be alright, It'll be alright
It'll be right now
All the people, they say

Portugal. The Man took 2017 by the horns after a considerably long gap, between records. They spent years working on an album called Gloomin + Doomin before later developing what would become known as their latest studio album WOODSTOCK. Fate struck lead singer, John Gourley, twice. First, John got some parental tough love from his old man. “What’s taking so long to finish the album?,” John’s dad asked. “Isn’t that what bands do? Write songs and then put them out?” The whole thing got John thinking about why the band seemed to be stuck on a musical elliptical machine from hell and more importantly, about how to get off of it. Second, John found his dad’s ticket stub from the original 1969 Woodstock music festival, which ultimately knocked something loose in his head. He realized that, in the same tradition of bands from that era, Portugal. The Man needed to speak out about the world crumbling around them.
With these two ideas converging, the band made a seemingly bat-shit-crazy decision: they took all of the work they had done for the three years prior and threw it out. The band went back to the studio - working with John Hill, Danger Mouse and longtime collaborator Casey Bates. In this new-found creative territory, the album that became WOODSTOCK rolled out naturally from there. Fast forward to present day and it was impossible to escape the album’s first single “Feel It Still,” which dominated the charts and radio airwaves in 2017. The 6X Platinum Certified hit reigned at #1 at nearly all radio formats, including Top 40, as well as Alternative, where the song held the chart’s top spot for a mind-blowing 20 weeks, breaking the record for most weeks at #1. Yes, you read that right. 5 guys from Wasilla, Alaska who have played nearly 1,500 shows in their career broke Alternative radio records and had a #1 song at Pop radio. Billboard Magazine even went as far as to call the song, “the unexpected rock crossover hit of 2017,” while Rolling Stone listed it as “one of the best songs of 2017.” AND THEN…the band kicked off 2018 by winning a GRAMMY Award for “Feel It Still.” WOODSTOCK has since been certified gold, as has their second single “Live In The Moment”.

Being from Wasilla, and graduating from the same High school that Zach and John went to, I'm super proud of their Bands success and their talent as Artists. I like our town being known for their bands origins, rather than the place Sarah Palin is from. I'm a swim coach for Wasilla High, and I tell my kids a lot, just because they're from this little town, doesn't mean they cant get out and make something of themselves, and be an impact on the world. Needless to say, we jam to Portugal during practice.

I was in a car accident after one of your concerts in 2010 and this was the song that helped me recover. "We may make it through the war, if we make it through the night," meant so much to me. Even now I need this song to get over the death of my best friend. So thank you for touching my life for 14 years now ♡

Dude, I am NEVER going to that dentist ever again. They didn't even clean my teeth before they tattooed me with a triangle and forced me to work in a call center.

I'm an old hippie and have seen so many great bands since the 70's. But I've never had a more spiritual experience than one transcendent night in Birmingham Alabama right before covid was on us. The pure joy and love that went through that crowd I'll never forget. I love you Joseph Benson, JP Brown, Jesse Benson Alayna Kaitlyn for taking this old man to this show. This song is so cathartic. Please play this at my funeral along with funeral for a friend by Elton John. These guys are right up there with the classics. Let love rule !

Well it all started when I was a pond pish, swimming around and eating algea minding my own business when all of the sudden I realized I was no longer a democrat. These findings were startling at first but I came to understand that pond fish are inherently Republican in our approaches. Years went by and times grew hard, I did a couple years for stealing a babies cell phone to order pizza. But thats all behind me now and Summer Fest is my new beginning. Thanks for listening stranger.

(...)“We made this alter ego [Portugal. The Man] and we decided to name this person after a country because it’s a group of people with a singular voice in the world,” Gourley explains, “Portugal pretty much sounded the best, but it’s a really beautiful place and I’m really glad we picked it. The people do have a lot of pride in their country and it’s not something you find all the time anymore.”

I read about Portugal. The Man in a magazine in 2011 and this was the first song of theirs that I looked up and listened to. Still one of my favorites. Rock on Lords!

An anti-war, curtly anti-religious band from Alaska with great rock music to boot. Count me in as a fan.

This song was buried deep in my memory and I finally found it again. Finally. I realized recently that their new popular song WAS them, and I recognized their name, and remembered listening to this on repeat in college. God. It took me weeks to find it.

Every time I hit a bong, this song has to be playing. Subsequently, my friends have gotten tired of this song being on constant replay.
