Portugal the man always has the best fucking music. I dont even work to look for their music, i hear it somewhere and im like “that song sounds really good” then i look up the lyrics and it turns out its them.
I felt that the lyrics weren't as hard hitting as some of their other songs, the amazing guitar solos were not present, and the overall sound was more mainstream. Thus, I felt they lost a bit of their signature sound.
Now that you mention it... indeed those cool solos are missing. Despite that, I love this album. Only second to Evil Friends, which is a work of genius imo
Yeah I was thoroughly sad when Satanic Satanist didn't make them as popular as I thought--especially People Say. I figured well if People Say didn't become a giant hit I think they're meant to stay kind of underground. Boy was I wrong!
Driew and then when ITMITC came out I was almost sad that a band could make such a remarkable album and still be playing smaller venues, it just shows how hard it is for bands to get their deserved recognition even when they are producing amazing, ground breaking music.
because the world knows not the depths of its disrespect and disregard for pure gold and the media shoves people like Taylor Swift down our throats to keep us from thinking to hard!!
Tidal Wave Portugal. The Man LYRICS I can see it in your eyes See it in your face Banging on your chest Acting tough looking unfazed Tripping over landlines Cutting deep with a dull blade (blade) Running out of unrest Goin' out of your mind Lonely days will follow Days will follow And the gaze that stuck The halls will know your name Hit me like a tidal wave Triggered by the aftershock Hit me like a tidal wave Triggered by the aftershock Hit me like a tidal wave Triggered by the aftershock Aftershock Aftershock Triggered by the aftershock I can see it with my own eyes The tracks down your face It can't be easy tryna unwind Sleepin' on your day dreams I'm not tryna role play I keep thinkin' break us take the wheel These days can break But I'm gonna take the wheel Hit me like a tidal wave Triggered by the aftershock Hit me like a tidal wave Triggered by the aftershock Hit me like a tidal wave Triggered by the aftershock Aftershock Aftershock Triggered by the aftershock Bet on the winners Worst of you's born to lose Bed with no dinner The rest of you's born to lose Better than zero Worst of you's born to lose Bet on the winners Hit me like a tidal wave Triggered by the aftershock Hit me like a tidal wave Triggered by the aftershock Hit me like a tidal wave Triggered by the aftershock Aftershock Aftershock Aftershock
Ipek BB compared to the surrounding years, I loved 2017. A whole fuckload of crazy shit involving fires happened very close to my house(one time our garage burned down and we lost so much shit i still cant believe. We are almost done with reconstructing it), in 2016. All of my friends shook it all off and acted like they werent affected (im in middle school) but i dont get how. I still get really fuckin nervous about shit burning down. and this year people who i know are dying left and right. Life sucks man, and Im sorry for makin you read this but i havent ever really talked to anyone about it. Songs that just sound good and let you reflect on shit that happened are awesome and this is absolutely one
I'm just seeing your post, but I understand how you are feeling. Our house caught on fire one winter, not even 6 months after my father passed away. They don't know what it is like because nothing like that has happened to them. It's very hard for some of us to overcome. It's been 8 years and the smell of smoke freaks me out still.
I'm obsessed with this song, so do y'all know any songs like Tidal Wave? With the alt rock and summery jamaican eque feel? It kinda reminds me of Ride (by Twenty one Pilots) composition wise, but I can't think of any other similar songs.
Both those songs use a reggae beat, which gives them that "Jamaican feel." There are so many groups that have a similar sound. Iration, Ballyhoo and the Dirty Heads are just a few of my summer jams. (Also songs like "No Way No" by Magic! use the same beat.) And if you like hip-hop, Aer and Radical Something add a little of that to the mix. Enjoy!
Late comment, but this is my favourite song from this album, and arguably the best one. Although we know "Feel it Still" is still the most recognized and popular song from this album

Only problem with this song is it's too good, I keep listening to the music rather than movies, i've soo much love for this song 😎😍 this songs needs to be on tending list. It always hit me like a tidal wave 👍❤
Actual tidal waves are caused by the gravitational pull of the moon and sun on our oceans. This song is about tsunamis which are triggered my earthquakes and their respective aftershocks.
