I met a young trans Muslim man at a party. You have no idea the abuse he endured at the hands of his family. Heartbreaking! This show and cast was amazing!
Word. When I was a kid all the adults called it "Sugar". I didn't know the word "Diabetes" until many years later. Oh, and no one said, "high blood pressure". It was "Hypertension".
This was the perfect representation of black mama/ Aunties of that generation. You have the concerned/Disappointed Woman, the Pseudo Christian woman and you have the Aunt who’s understanding. Pose and FX did an amazing job.
The understanding aunt was the aunt that was rejected by the church, who judged her as "lesser than" for not having followed its strict rules, and was cast out. She says with such pain that she lost her community, all because of extreme inflexibility with regards to following old rules from 3,000 years ago. No compassion, no mercy was shown to her. She understands and cares because she's gone through the same thing Pray Tell had to go through--rejection for being an "imperfect" human being, with weaknesses and sins.
Nope. You don't get to have it both ways. If she is an imperfect sinner, then she should admit she's wrong for having an affair and producing a child out of wedlock. But instead she insists the rules are outdated, so she takes no responsibility for her wrong at all. If she doesn't want to submit to God's law, then why does she want to belong to a community of people who submit to God's law? Seems rather entitled to want all the benefits without any of the responsibilities.
@@_lithpand just as you are showing no empathy, no leadway, no humanity. God will judge you with the same harshness. Be careful trying to play the role of God while breathing on this earth
OMG the other show I'm binge watching is Gordon Ramsay kitchen nightmares? OMG I half expected him to show up and be like "this fish is so undercooked I can still hear it singing Under the Sea!!"
@@amerleesilver4294 The point is no other show, EVER, IS SHEDDING LIGHT on these issues♡♡♡♡ Sooooo stop being negative and be the change that you claim you don't see
Facts!!! Now if we could only get a network that speaks on other hard topics in the black community such as colorism, how to build generational wealth , and break generational curses in the black community.
@@moneelove100 I know Jackee was on Sister, Sister. I was referring to their shows on NBC at the time overlapping. 227 (1985-1990) Amen (1986-1991) The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (1990-1996). Not to mention they were top 20 shows.
@@johnny4048reads Exactly these queens dominated our tv airwaves in the mid to late 80's and early part of the 90's so to see these three queens on Pose is legendary
I love the complexity of this they’re showing. Relationships are complicated and with great deep love there will also be great pain but that’s the beauty of it. Pray and his family are a beautiful representation of this. There is dysfunction but there is so much love there.
This scene makes me think about all the men/women who have come clean about their diagnosis. How hard it must be/been to do so. This show in general has opened my eyes to ALOT. I hate the show is ending but I applaud all the messages. The whole cast is beautiful and they can bow out gracefully ❤️
@@simplybri3608 Yet he created man . How dumb? Don't yall praise him when you get money or a job? Etc ? Yet he can't protect the ones he claims to love. Stupid
this is the dynamic between my mother and aunties. my mother is the overly religious pseudo christian, my older aunt is the concerned one, and my younger aunt is the understanding, empathetic one. this scene hit home
From the commercials I was like... Oh, great an episode about Pray Tell bitching. Then it's like Anna, Janet, and Jackee??? Sit down shut up and watch the masters work their magic.
This season of Pose had some real tear jerker scenes, especially this one here. if i ever acted i would really love these women to be part of my family especially Anna-Maria
Out of every show on TV., this show is most important. How could this be the season finale. This show reps real live struggles to this day. We need to petition for this show.
Fully agree! This season is tainted with such sadness for me. I've become so emotionally invested in these characters and their meaningful stories that I can't say goodbye. I can't go back to having nothing but nonsense to look forward to on TV.
“Hate the sin, love the sinner” -Gahdi. Intriguing how for generations we assumed that was a quote from the Bible. How about they pray over his health. His soul has already been covered about 2,000 years ago. 🤷🏽♀️. I love Ms. Jackee, Ms.Janet and Ms Anna-Marie. Legendary ladies. Grew up watching them and felt like they are my aunties
Jackee Harry aka "Sandra" from "227". Anna-Maria Horsford aka "Thelma" from "Amen". And Janet Hubert aka "Aunt Vivian (Viv) Banks" from "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air". All in that order by decades/years, and by such talented black/brown women. I can relate to Jackee Harry's character.
@@amerleesilver4294 Even upper class people can be badass as well. I was clearly saying that Janet Hubert is a true survivor and that to me is the real meaning of a real badass. Thank you for your comment.
I cant believe this was canceled. Best show in forevah!!! Fierce, poignant and feels. What this society needs is a great big dose of education and empathy!!!
Wow, I knew he was going to say that the moment they showed his face. It’s sad how toxic family can be. The very people who should be supportive and loving are the last ones to be so.
wait...I didn't even know this show existed. I will watch anything with Jackee. She always pick good scripts. This scene was so powerful and it breaks my heart that the business of church has kept people away from everything Jesus. Pray
I haven't watched this show yet, but this scene right here I felt this in my soul ‼️ When he kept on saying mommy, it was like he was a little boy ‼️ I'm definitely going to watch this show‼️ These are also my ladies, I grew up watching all of them, I LOVE THEM‼️ 💙💙💙💙🌈
😰😭🥺The pain...the Pain!!! 😔To MANY Loved ones Lost🙏🏽💝🙏🏼How he made it through those scenes without breaking down-- Completely. The Strength he has❤🧡💛💚💙💜👣
Their kitchen is set up just like my grandmother's kitchen.. It looked just like that kitchen until she renovated, she got new floors, counters, cabinets and appliances. I love how real this show is. I can remember having hurtful, serious, and just overall difficult conversations in a kitchen just like this one. The creators and production team outdid themselves with POSE. Where do you go from the top??
Seeing all these Legendary women together is History in the making most people have no ideal what these Great actress bring to the table........OMG GREAT CASTING
