Poshmark is infamous for making crazy changes to its platform that affect its buyers & sellers negatively, but they've hit a whole new level today. They have overhauled their fee structure to a new and utterly confusing system, where Poshmark will actually be making more money while driving buyers and sellers away. Just subscribed! My average sale on Posh is $300 - I sell new Veronica Beard and other high end designers...On Sat I had 2 sales and both asked me to cancel after they paid and figured out what they actually were charged for. One of the buyers even asked me if I would complete the sale outside of Posh so they did not have to pay the fees. No sales all week after these 2 cancellations. I think we need to group together as sellers and communicate with Posh that this is going to push buyers away. I contacted support on this, hope others will do the same.

Exactly what happened with Mercari. It’s not only sales that are non existent, barely any views too, talking about single digit # of views in a week. Which tells me the buyers have left.

My sales have ground to a halt. In addition to paying all of these fees, PM is also encouraging sellers to pay them to Promote our closets. Poshmark has lost their way. If buyers flee, they will have to walk back this plan. It It just sucks that they did this in Q4 when most of us are expecting our best sales. 😢

right immediately after they starting implementing new charges I went from selling 3 to 4 items a day to nothing even though I have a over 4000 items and I list every day. So sad!

I'm sorry but if you were only selling 3-4 items a day with 4000 items listed you have bigger problems. I do that much with 700 listings. You may want to reevaluate what you are selling your STR is bad.

The 20% was high but it was easy to calculate. Charging buyer is not a good look. They are basically telling the buyers to pay to use the platform. In the week of the change, I got 1 sale 😢. I am disappointed in how Poshmark handled this.

Its a scam. On your $40 item they used to get $8. Now in your example both the buyer and the seller pay 5.40, so Posh gets 10.80. So now they get 27% instead of them getting 20%. They really suck. Like we couldn’t do the math!

At leas a few of us can actually do the math. I'm a newer seller, but I started with being a buyer. Unfortunately, many of the larger volume sellers are defending these changes. I repeatedly show the % like you just did. PM took 15.7% on my only sale of a $27 item last week. That was $15.7% for that buyer and myself while PM made 31.4% off of the sale instead of 20%. It's not worth it to me to save 3% on seller fees, if people stop buying. As soon as I looked at the new fee system I thought it wreaked of smoke & mirrors. This is purposely confusing and deceptive.

eBay is super user friendly! The only thing that counts for buyers finding your items are the titles. Keywords are important. No hashtags. Some specifics are required for items but that doesn’t mean it makes searches come up for the item.

I am closing down Poshmark completely now. I started a store on Ebay about 6 months back and I don't have all my older inventory on there as of yet. I do have Mercari but that is very similar because they charge the buyer the fees they used to charge the seller. I trust ebay and eventually that will be the only platform I use. They have the largest audience and largest selection of reseller goods. I initially started the store because my husband and I started going to yard sales/estates sales. Buying and selling many different products not just clothing. My business is not to where I want it to be but I definitely feel my sales on ebay are steady and will steadily increase as I increase my daily listings and get to be more consistent. Good luck to all resellers. I say ebay all the way, but that is just me.

I would be careful going to ebay. I've been on ebay for almost 20 years, got fed up and started cross listing to poshmark. I have 1500 items on ebay and 160 of those also listed on poshmark, I hate the changes to poshmark, however, I've sold 4 things today, 2 on poshmark and 2 on ebay. I know 2 larger ebay clothing resellers (both did RU-vid videos) that quit completely in the last 30 days due to poor sales in general and due to the continual downward spiral of ebay. We are cross listing all of our clothing manually. After fall sales, we will re-evaluate and may shut down completely.

Buyer here. I'm soooo enraged by these fees. I buy secondhand for sustainability, and was ready to buy a $95 sweater for my husband for his birthday but on check out the price was $120, even with $5.95 shipping! Left it there. That total was insane.

I've been getting super low offers and I counter as I always do, 20-40% off, even then the buyers are declining when usually I make sales from those same offers. It's so frustrating!

yes! Thank you! I am defintitely not loving this aspect either. When you sell an item $500 or over they give free shipping, but they put that in for you when you send an offer so the buyer knows. With this if i send an offer to a customer I have been subtracting what i usually give as a shipping discount from my offer price so they then get the discounted shipping as more off, but my offers don't show the discounted shipping so they don't seem to go for the offer. So ive started just sending the usual shipping discount on the offer with no idea if I'm paying or posh is still honoring this. I feel like its such poor timing when my sales generally go up this time of year, it's poorly explained to us, and I'm having a hard time understanding how they could be making more money since our buyers are actually wanting things for way less then b4 to cover all of these fees, making Posh make less per sale then they would have b4(and actually us to if we have to take low offers) if we sold the item for more. It just feels like they have zero common sense!

I just wonder if Poshmark will listen to the complaints or notice a decrease in sales and change back to their old fee structure. While they might think they are being enticing to sellers on the app with a “pay increase” in most cases, they really are sh00ting themselves in the foot because it really is pushing buyers away! I am a reseller (on a small scale) and I have actually made multiple sales since it started, however I almost made 2 purchases myself and decided against is due to the fees I would have had as a buyer…

Hey Bekah! Thank you for making this video. This whole new thing is so frustrating for alot of us, and I was kind of waiting for this video because I feel better knowing even the successful sellers are advocating for this being a terrible change. Im currently in a couple of posh groups on Facebook and some people are like "Oh this is great!" "My sales are just fine." "My sale are better than ever." etc, but when us other sellers who ARE being affected speak up we are just complaining or not learning to adapt lol. Adapt? To something that is drastically affecting ALOT of people from buying on the platform? This whole thing is just crazy and honestly I hope it drastically decreases the money going into postmarks wallets, so then maybe they will make a more positive change. Also If they required a month subscription they would lose me as a seller which takes alot from me. Thats not something I'm willing to pay for because my monthly sales are not garunteed and I could have slow months that im paying more for. I hope things look up for you, and I look forward to that ebay listing video as im trying to adapt there myself.

There are a few RU-vid resellers I am seeing that are saying “only time will tell” and that their sales haven’t been impacted so they don’t think the fee structure is bad. But unfortunately time has told and it told us non-RU-vidrs real quick 😅 RU-vid videos do really help drive traffic to a closet especially with hauls. Edit: I am saying this just to say it’s so relatable and appreciated that you are calling out this change as a major step backwards! And not just saying buyers won’t notice and that their profit on sales has only increased since.

I hate it. I left EBay after years of selling on the site because of the horrible way I was treated as a seller, and I moved to Poshmark about 1 year ago. I love Poshmark, however this change makes absolutely no sense. They are chasing away buyers, and my sells are tanking. In the long run sellers, as well as Poshmark, will make less money because buyers aren’t going to stand for this, especially since EBay bends over backwards to make buyers happy; and usually at the seller’s expense.

I decided I was going to stop buying from Poshmark after I saw these fees. I wrote them a suggestion through contact us. I told them people would go back to ebay --including me! Anyway I think until they make things reasonable... (even before it was barely reasonable-- much worse than other platforms)... until it's reasonable I hope everyone bans it and moves to eBay. I hope their greed destroys their company and everyone can make better money and having better shopping experience somewhere else!

I’d leave it if you have the items cross posted to other platforms. Buyers are smart enough to look on eBay and see if an item is cheaper there. I use a cross lister that charges and does the sharing on Poshmark. I will probably cancel that service and just list to eBay and Mercari directly. No need to list additional items on Poshmark now.

Thank you for your excellent overview of Poshmark's new horrible fee scale. I'm an 8yr Ambassador II seller/buyer on Poshmark with 800 items in my closet. I usually sell 3-4 items weekly. I've not sold 1 item since the fee change & have gotten nothing but pennies to the dollar offers on my new, not used items. This new greedy fee structure is appalling! It's killing sales & will end my ability to continue business on Poshmark. I don't blame buyer's, there's no way I'd ever pay these exorbitant fees on a purchase. Shame on Manish for this betrayal of his community.

I have 3700+ available listings on Poshmark and can't sell on eBay (long story). My sales have been ok since the change but not stellar. I list high and make generous offers, usually 20-30-40% depending on the item. I think buyers are scared off by the added fee, I know I would think twice. I wish Poshmark had simply split the 20% fee and charge both sellers and buyers 10% to make it easier to calculate. Honestly, I was fine with the 20% fee because I had already priced it into my listings.

Tbh I would’ve been fine with increasing the seller fee to 25% versus adding buyers fees. We always have the power to work a fee increase into our prices. I just don’t think it’s fair for them to charge buyers a “protection” fee. Were they unprotected at first or something???

I appreciate you making this video. I live in PA and we do not have sales tax on clothing. It irks me that as a Seller I will get charged a fee on sales tax, which is paid by the Buyer. So they are double dipping by charging the 5.99% to both the Seller and Buyer on the total price. I only sell on Poshmark but definitely need to expand to other platforms since I’m making 0 sales with this change

I've been a Posh Ambassador for probably almost 8 years and seen the changes over time to include when they didn't even charge tax and increased postage. These were annoying but totally understandable changes. With this new change, I think this is going to drastically change the mindset of buyers/sellers, especially the OG Poshers in a negative way. I also purchase off Posh and now don't want to bother since I can find new items for the same price on other sites such as Gilt with good return policies if something doesn't fit. Curious to see where all this goes since as a seller, I don't know if it's worth it to post new listings. 😏

Not to mention the $40 monthly promoted closet fee and that’s if you sell Nothing, otherwise it’s more. And at the end of the year they’re taking away the 5.99 promotion for shipping. Unless you’re lucky enough to be selling only items that were your personal ones or you’re stealing them, it looks like selling on Poshmark will actually cost you money instead of make you any. 🤬

Thank you for explaining this, I’m a Poshmark seller, Ambassador II, I thought my slump was from the hurricanes and it was affecting my sales! I told my husband, wow no sales for 3 days this is strange. I have in the past 3 days made sales,BUT lowballers now it makes sense!!! I’ve had to drop prices to make sales. I’m considering jumping into EBAY. Poshmarks greed will catch up once they see a drop in sales!!!! I will send a letter out in my disgust on their greedy decision.

Thank you for making this video! My sales have tanked since this change. I’m in a Facebook group and they say if you stopped having sales, you don’t have good stuff that people want and that their sales have increased. I strongly disagree. How do you recommend Crosslisting 700 items to eBay quickly? I can’t take every piece out of storage to weigh it. Is there a trick to figuring out eBay shipping without weighing each piece? You are so helpful. I love watching your videos!

I just finished cross listing manually to ebay a few weeks ago. Be General For weight for already listed items, Shoes = 1 lbs Boots = 2 lbs Jeans 1 lbs Tops = 1 lbs Sweater are either 1 or 2 depending on material. You know your packaging dimensions already. Start with these and then as you list new items you will quickly get up to speed with weight. The ebay USPS Ground Advantage is the way to go and watch youtubers, that is what I did to understand the ebay shipping. I have sold way more on ebay since starting with them than I ever have on PM interestingly and I have been on PM for almost a year.

Thank you so much for your honesty, I think some people who post about these Poshmark changes are being a bit shy to rock the posh-boat. Which is now sinking... But I agree, this will turn buyers away and they will not come back.

Exactly, thanks for your honesty. My math showed on a 20.00 order I saved .80, not counting they have the nerve to attempt to extort .05 per click if you opt into promoted closet, and like the other apps if you don't well, forget being seen in the algorithm.

Sellers may technically make more from each sale, but if they don't want to pay fees on top of the item cost, tax, and shipping fees, then they won't buy from sellers on Poshmark which will hurt us. Sellers will likely have to lower their prices to get sales.

I was wondering what was going on in the last week or so. Sales are definitely down. Now I understand why. This is terrible. They should have not done this! No one is going to shop on Poshmark anymore 😢

This is going to be even more brutal if it makes it way to Canada 😢 on a $40 item we already pay $12.49 shipping (standard, it drops to $9.99 on CCO)) and fees/sales tax. For a $40 item as a buyer my total would already be $58.78… basically $19 on top of the items price, and that’s BEFORE this new fee system… we will be even more screwed

Hi, Rebekah! Thank you for taking the time to explain everything. I only sell on Poshmark and I also have small closet with off brands (not all). I’ve been on Poshmark as a reseller since August 2022. I understand Poshmark was purchased and kept Manish on board. With that in mind, my husband said the new owners might have buyer’s remorse as they’ve discovered they’re not making a profit. They might’ve gone to this new business model to pay overhead but also it could be a sign of Poshmark is possibly going to go through another sale if this new fee/business structure (model) doesn’t workout. They might not have anything to lose since there are other platforms or they’re going to rebrand Poshmark. What do you think? Again thank you! Good vlog. ✨🌼

I’m a new Posher of 7 months. Last months sales were sooooo good. Made a great profit. My first sale after this roll out was so frustrating. Buyer bought a bundle and was confused about her total price. This month???? Crickets!!!!!😮I was just getting my price structure locked in with my GOGS, discount shipping and the 20% fee. All week has been restructuring my business. Not sourcing or listing. Why make such drastic changes at once, why not slowly implement new processes? My two cents…..literally!

Since this video was made Posh made a change to the 1, 2, 3 part. It’s now $2 for sales over $15 to $50, and over $50 is $3.

I spent tens of thousands of dollars on Poshmark. I would've never spent that much money under this new fee structure. I looked to find deals to resell myself. So most of my ticket items are over 200. I will only use eBay now. F Poshmark!
