Hi Ashley thanks for this video,.,im new in Poshmark and interested to make my online shop.,what i need to do if my items is sold out already, how can i do that? Thank you so much.
- take square photos - check items carefully - leave room in pricing - share! - use all the real estate - high retail price doesn't equal high profit - listen and learn but do your own thing :) - done is better than perfect, just put it up! - there will be highs and lows - the community is amazing!
Absolutely Impeccably said! "Better done than perfect" !!! I will definitely incorporate it on my diy art projects somewhere. I learned the concept from Tim Ferris's book back in 2007, but it was a tad wordy. this summarizes it best! Thank you!
I started reselling in March this year and your videos have been so helpful! Also I appreciate you replying to my dm’s and questions ☺️ Poshmark has been so fun and kept me busy during this lockdown! So happy to have discovered this community!!
Can I just say how thankful I am for your videos. I lived in California and was a posh ambass and now i've moved to Vancouver Canada and i had to start my account all over. The shipping is so different here!!! your videos are a life saver. Thank you!!!!
Hi Ashley!! It is videos like these when I was first starting out on Poshmark that saved a world of headaches. I am HORRIBLE at all things technology apps phones computers. Watching all these videos are so good at spelling everything out step by step for me. The first video I ever saw of yours was your shipping for Poshmark Canada and it was awesome. Made it way less terrifying. hahaha
Ahhhh so glad I could help you get past those feelings. In the beginning it totally feels so overwhelming, but little by little it becomes easier and more intuitive. So glad I could be a helpful part of your journey!! Thank you for watching 💖
I made a rookie mistake of not checking items very carefully at a thrift store! One of your videos taught me what to look for when buying used jeans. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Ashley! This is a great video with great tips!
Love the tip, “Find the joy in the journey”! I love thrift shopping & reselling but sometimes it feels like so much work. But I remind myself that I am choosing to do this and it brings me joy to make money from the treasures I find while being a stay at home mom. I’m in the US though. Thanks! Best of luck!
So brand new to POSHMARK CANADA that I have yet to list even one item. I have purchased many things, but regrettably fear the selling part. I am going to watch your series to get some pointers, since my closets are full of beautiful clothes and bags and accessories, but I don’t wear them 🤷♀️
Definitely check items carefully. My sis I were at Qualitown yesterday and I caught flaws on two of her pile of items ..she needs new glasses, seriously. 😊So that saved her about 12.00. I’m getting more careful than ever as flaws are sooo common. Good video, Ashley! 🙏💕
Yes yes yes!! That's great that you were able to help your sister and spot some flaws she may have missed! it's the worst when you get something home and realize it has a flaw.
Definitely your point about high retail value vs resale value is something I wish I new and how to keep my cost of goods down! For example, I thought Gap was the big time 😂 not a bad brand to sell, but traditionally won’t resale for much.. so I regret some of my $4-5 pickups in mall brands
I just started my Postmark journey, and I had no idea about the square photos!!! I love your approach to Poshmark advice! Great video!! Saving video as a future reference!
Thanks so much for the tips. I just signed up to be a seller this week. Gaining knowledge and learning how to navigate the web site. Love that collaboration mentality that everyone has.👍🏽
Hi Ashley, This video is super timely for me as I just started on Poshmark yesterday. Thank you for taking the time to share all of your tips. I’ve watched a handful of your videos and found the shipping video to be especially helpful. And by the way, I am so jealous that you found a Smash & Tess romper at a thrift store. 🙂
Oh wow!! Welcome and congrats on getting started!! So glad I could help clarify some things for you as I know how much info it is to absorb when you’re getting started. Omg the Smash & Tess romper was such a great find (though I’ve spent so much money on that brand, that it felt like it balanced some things out for me 😂) what is your name on Poshmark?
I’ve been contemplating for some time now about selling on Poshmark. This video was so helpful. One thing I haven’t figured out is the shipping. When I look at a listing it shows the shipping cost. Is there a restriction on the size of the package? Does Canada Post or UPS offer free shipping supplies (eg envelopes) similar to what USPS offers?
@@canusa234 check out the info on Poshmark’s site for shipping. The buyer pays for shipping and the flat rate covers up to 5 lbs. Canada Post doesn’t provide shipping materials in the same way USPS does, so you’ll have to get some of your own. Recycled boxes from other packages work great, especially when you’re starting out!
Ashley, thank you very much for this video. Im your new subscriber! Thos crazy world needs more people lile yourself. Bubbly, outgoing & willing to help others.! Yes i do agree the Ppshmark community is great to deal with! ❤️ I have been buying from Poshmark for over a year. Next Im going to embark on selling. I will definitely be following many of your tips. I do have one question - what is "BOLO" ?? It's probably as simple as NWT & NWOT. Cheers💋🥂
Thanks so much for watching and for your support Michelle!! The Poshmark community is amazing. BOLO stands for “be on the lookout” - aka brands / items that are coveted or popular. ✨
As a new and p/t Poshmark seller, what is your suggestion on how many items to post every day? Or approximately how many hours should one dedicate to being a p/t seller?
Hi Marie! I think it’s really up to you and the time you want to spend / have available + how many items you want to invest in. There’s no right or wrong, and really depends on you! Listing regularly is a good call, and I personally aim for 50 items listed / month. I also talked more about your question in my latest video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yyVLcEfkiPA.html
Can you actually make money with Poshmark in Canada? I feel like we have such a limited audience in this country compared to the USA. What is your opinion.
This is such a great question, and my short answer is yes! While we are smaller than the US, and there’s fewer users, the growth since launch has been huge. I actually went into greater detail about this in my latest video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yyVLcEfkiPA.html
Ashley, I would love to know how you file your taxes for your Poshmark profits? Are you registered as a business in Canada? I would love to sell my items online but the cashflow and tax set-up for the whole process makes me nervous. Any tips?
Hi Andreea, I’ve been getting this question a lot (it’s that season!) my best suggestion would be to talk to an accountant, tax pro or financial advisor to see what makes the most sense for you. As I’m not an expert in this area, I don’t feel comfortable giving blanket advice. I talked more about your question and my thoughts in my latest video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yyVLcEfkiPA.html
I only followed US poshers on RU-vid when I started over a year ago. The US market is sooooo different. What sells there doesn't necessarily sell here. Additionally....LOOK UP COMPS before you buy. Ugh
Oh my goodness, yes!! Lots of differences in cost of goods, brands and what’s popular. Research is key, and really looking at what’s doing well in Canada!
You are so right. Watching US Poshmark RU-vid is dangerous. Canadian buyers have their own shopping list, and it doesn’t include a lot of American BOLO’s. I have so many items that would sell on Poshmark USA.
A buyer can open a case if something isn’t right with the order. For example the item arrived broken, not as depicted in the listing etc. Check out the Poshmark site and FAQ to learn more
Help! I'm close to becoming an Ambassador but for some reason Poshmark isn't recognizing my love notes. Am I putting them in the wrong place? Who knows how to unlock this mystery? Thanks!
Hi Ashley, do people sell only new items or second hand also? Are they brand only or any? Is this annoying to run to a post-service place every time? How does it work(in two words)? So, I can sell things I bought in some stock stores for a little bigger price? Thank you!
Hi! There's a mix of second hand and new items on Poshmark. I would say there's more brand name stuff than not, but depending on the style things may do well even if they don't have a brand! I'm within walking distance from a post office, so I don't find it to be too much of a hassle - you can also put your parcels directly into a mailbox to go out. You get to choose your prices for whatever you sell. I hope this helps!
One of the things I'm unsure about regarding Postmark is anonymity. They post your hometown and state. They have to put your return address on sales. Also my email has my full name listed. Can you stay anonymous somehow because I don't want strangers having this info.
Hey Lisa, I totally hear you on this. Buyers don’t see your email at any point, only your username (and you can make that whatever you want - doesn’t have to include your full name) If you’re concerned about having your address on the shipping label, you could always investigate getting a PO Box and include that instead.
I’m not totally sure! I haven’t tried selling it personally. I’d suggest doing some research to see how Eddie Bauer items are doing and what they’re selling for
The icon of innovation no less, I dig it. You gotta give a girl a link or I'm buying myself a cricut for christmas! xD P.s Thank you for all the tips on navigating Poshmark, I appreciate it! Happy holidays. ♡
At this time there isn't cross border shipping within Poshmark. There are some folks in Canada who have Poshmark accounts and there are some videos here on RU-vid about how to go about setting that up!
I don’t think it’s necessary unless it’s something you’re passionate about and want to do! I actually answered your question in more detail in my latest video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-yyVLcEfkiPA.html
If a buyer receives an item and it doesn’t live up to expectations (ie. the seller misrepresented the item, or it was damaged etc) they can open up a case in Poshmark. Poshmark mediates and decides if the item can be returned and/or if the buyer will receive their money back.
Sorry no groundbreaking info here for me... nothing specific to Poshmark most all of this info is either on the site or I already knew it from being an Ebay seller for 30 years...
That’s amazing that you’ve been on eBay for so many years! Is there anything you wish you knew before you started or would advise to someone getting started?
@@ashleygibson1 Thank you Ashley for your fast reply to my comment & I must commend you on your positive attitude which will get you further than anything in this world! Positive, pleasant and determined will always win the day--that and a very thick skin and the knowledge that none of this is personal--only business. I am not one to give advice actually but the one thing I will offer to everyone is to remember that the only thing a seller can count on is that the market and demand and supply will change--there is no magic formula for winning! Also if as a seller you think you have it all figured out then you are already slipping most likely because you aren't moving on to the newest trend or website or selling venue. Also if you think you will become rich selling online think again and don't start your small business without a solid business plan and then expect to fail--as a very high percentage of small businesses fail. This is not my advice it is fact unfortunately. When you are out buying your inventory remember that most things aren't as good as you think they are and that the customer is always right until they aren't. Please also keep in mind that just because someone says they are making a ton of money selling online does not mean that it's true--many people brag even when they are failing miserably because they can't face the fact that they aren't making the money they need, want or thought that they would make. Wishing you and all the sellers tons of sales and gobs of money!
What an amazing energy you have! Thank you! Would love to connect & pick your brain ( if you don't mind about some reselling tricks) . Helps a lot when you enter the space & starting to learn a new platform. As you said, at first you have no idea what you are doing. Haha. I think I am at this exact point. It's structured completely differently from FB, LI or TW... the only other social platforms I've used in the past.. so I went ahead & liked whole bunch of things. ( a LOT of them - my first 2 hours) Didn't realize that it means that you are actively interested in buying an item.... got whole bunch of offers, but it was never my intent to buy most of them. Mostly they were wrong size but gorgeous and I looked how photos were taken! As a 4 days old Posher - I wish I knew that. ( ended up spending quite a few hours replying directly to sellers with no & then sending personal notes as to why... ) but as you say - it's a journey. In any case - thank you so much for the video & have a great mood! @digit_el
Love that you've been on the platform for just a few days and you're diving right in! Feel free to drop any questions into the comments of any video you watch or feel free to send me a DM on Instagram if anything comes up for you as you get situated on the platform. It's okay that you didn't know that liking was a bit different on PM - I think that happens to many people when they first join!!
