Me personally I would grab Amarius Mims and let him sit behind Trent Brown for a year and learn,,if he has to go in he at least has some game experience. But that’s me personally. WHO DEY BABY!!!!
James talks about weapons with the chiefs while not admitting they have the best oline and one of the best dline in football. They also traded tyreek hill and sneed to keep trenches players
Their offensive line wasn't the best in football. Not close. The Bengals had better OT play last year. The Chiefs are hunting for weapons this offseason and they didn't want to pay Snead because they had to pay Chris Jones a ton of $$$$.
@@chadpayne956 100% I’m not a doctor, but burrow has been sacked 148 times in 4 seasons. Or 148 times in 50 games, that’s an average of 37 sacks a season. 1 season cut short because his leg was destroyed vs Washington. Also sprained his mcl in the Super Bowl. He was sacked 8 times in a playoff game. All I’m saying is in my opinion, is these hits all add up. Let’s hits on our general QB please and thank you.
Oline and a good QB is more important than Wr and a good QB. The one time we saw Mahomes get pressured up the middle it was in the Superbowl against the bucs and he couldn't do anything to get the ball to Kelce and Hill. If the Bengals had a better guard instead of say Boyd, they win that Superbowl and Burrow doesn't take 5 sacks in that game. We gotta go o-line instead of weapons, especially now that Burrow has had two season ending injuries. If Burrow gets hurt again it doesn't matter if we have Chase, Higgins, Justin Jefferson and Brock Bowers. We ain't winning a Superbowl
Protect Burrow! They Bengals had the best WR trio in 2021 and 2022 and on both occasions th eh felt short because they can’t protect #9!!!! Give him a Top 10 O line at the very least and the Bengals will win the SB. Quote this and bump it in January if I’m wrong.
@@jharp08 That’s the point! Imagine if the Bengals did not have to rely on weak backups. They need a solid RT in the event T. Brown misses time which he’ll most likely do.
I think James is too focused on WR. I look at it like this. The first round pick should be an immediate major impact player. And a WR would likely be behind Chase and probably Higgins right now, so impact would be limited. Also, he said Iosivas is unproven, but the dude had like 4 TDs as a rookie project player buried on the depth chart. CB is probably the biggest degree of upgrade if Mitchell or Arnold are available. Murphy, Newton, and maybe Sweat (in the 2nd round) would likely be starters at DT. A Tackle that can also play guard would be able to compete for a starting position and likely would be needed if we see any injuries along the current starting lineup. My preference would be Fautanu or Fuaga, but most of the other OTs would be okay too. You could make a case for Bowers as the franchise TE, but it’s not the highest priority in my opinion. But I could see the logic and wouldn’t be upset. I do question what the “best player available” definition is, though. Is this regardless of your current roster? Is it based on general consensus or is it team specific? I look at last year’s draft and how Detroit picked up Gibbs earlier than expected. The Lions reached based on consensus expectations, but that move was perfect for their team. Meanwhile, the Bengals took a guy who struggled to see the field because we already had good starters in place at DE. A purely depth piece in the 1st round is a wasted pick. Especially while Cincy should be in win-now mode.
Offensive line its that simple. Anything else is unacceptable we have to try and make burrow one of the least touched qbs. Hes good enough to make up for lack of "weapons" he jus needs a wall up front not the picket fence hes had.
When the Bengals beat the Chiefs it was the DEFENSE shutting the Chiefs down in the 2nd half that made the difference. Give me DTs and DBs, a right tackle and one more receiver.
Wrong, wrong, wrong. Kansas City got rid of their weapon ala Tyreek Hill and improved their O-line. Result? Two super bowls. Cincinnati. Awful O-line. Took weapon instead of trenches. Result. Higgins contract issues. Lower ranked O-line. Joe Burrow hurt again and 0 super bowls. Yeah, Chase was the right choice. Draft and FA is usually always deep in WR's. Not OL. Guys always clamoring for WR's are fanboys that don't know anything about football.
I think we should take OT in the first round. Just did a PFF mock for the 1st 3 rounds and Bowers fell. Take a look at this. No OT, but I still like it. 1. Brock Bowers JC Latham was here 2. Zach Frazier (Kiran and Blake Fisher here) 3. T'Vondre Sweat 3.2. Jarrian Jones (Alabama Corner) Am I an idiot? I actually like this, without an OT.
A little bit of revisionist history with the Chase/Sewell debate I think. If I’m not mistaken the original game plan was to address the need in free agency and then draft the best player. They would’ve drafted Sewell if Reiff turned them down.
I like Quinyon Mitchell but he doesn't fit our scheme. We play a lot of man-to-man, Mitchell mostly played in a zone scheme (lot of cover 3) but Mitchell did play well in the senior bowl in a man-to-man role so there is definitely potential.
Take Newton if no tackles are available or take the Oregon state guy or mims. Round two take a sweat if he's there if you don't take Newton in the first.
which ever WR we take please dont give him 85... whenever they broadcast the game in Spanish, you know who they call out when theres a touchdown... (true immortality)
PROTECT PROTECT PROTECT JOE. He's already had 2 season ending injuries. They have weapons. You can have all the weapons in the world but if he can't get them the ball or is hurt doesn't matter. Please make protecting Joe Burrow the #1 priority in this draft. I don't even want to say it but the next one and it might be over. We have a special player let's do right by him.
This is funny, they talk like this is easy, trenches and weapons. Let me go back a year, last April, they got essentially nothing that helped last season in the draft. Teams like the Rams, Texans, and Lions ALL got multiple impact players from their draft picks. Cleveland Browns lost their star RB and starting QB and STILL made the playoffs. If you draft poorly in todays NFL the impact is immediate. What is Tee Higgins going to be like? Jamar Chase is likely to start complaining about his contract. Tyler Boyd is virtually history. With Higgins, Boyd, and Chase, the case of Chase being always open has some merit. With Chase only, no merit. OL is a unit. It's impact is in how well they function together. I keep saying that while these two podcasters say something else. They praise Drew Sample for being a blocker at a receiving or RB position. That is an impact position. They catch, they run, and yes they also block. The ignorance in and around the Cincinnati Bengals is why this franchise has zero Lombardi Trophies and likely will not see one soon. In fact, they likely will be heading in the opposite direction next season.
Why is the cornerback position not talked about enough? Sure cam Taylor Britt is great and Mike Hilton is solid. But, do we trust DJ turner playing consistently? Furthermore, who’s behind DJ? Very dicey waters
Joe Burrow can't stay healthy. This is not an opinion, its a fact. His knee, his calf, and now his throwing wrist (not good). In his young career, he has spent A LOT of time on the IR. Joey B is too fragile and unreliable.
Are you for real. Why has he had those injuries because they haven't protected him. Damn near ruined his career as a rookie. Next year takes the BENGALS to the Superbowl while being sacked a record amount of times. If they do the right thing and get a real OL he's going to get Cincy that first Superbowl win.
