If you want to reduce the bass boom, just set your Spark40 on a guitar stand or just prop the front up with a paperback book. Disconnecting the cab with solid objects works well.

I tried this with a Radial Direct box. Everything works but the sound from the PA seems controlled. Not sure how to explain. Seems like a noise clamp is cutting off the sound or the sound clips away. I’ve tried disabling the clamp all together, still does the same thing but it now hums at rest. I don’t think it’s the clamp pedal. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks a lot eh! The battery pack will make it a great portable Bluetooth speaker! I've had mine since they first came out and the thought never crossed my mind. Very cool indeed. Within a week of having it I changed the on/off toggle to a much beefier one with a satisfying clicj. IMHO the stock switch is (was in my case) ridiculously small. The carry strap basically fell apart after a year. I made a new one from a black leather Levy guitar strap. Works the charm and still looks new. Other than that, my 40 hasn't let me down! Off to order a battery pack! Cheers! JR

WOW So much stuff you did. I live at Ft Lauderdale Beach and knew I needed a amp to go with my E/ A guitars. So I found a Peavey Rockmaster 5 " speaker powered by either a 9v wall wart or a 9v battery. Sounds like crap but only paid $30. Plus I did the strap locks thing so it's easier to carry and not worry about it. Don't really know if it's worth improving this thing. It's just a acoustic guitar sound at the beach. Nice Video! & Nice Mods! It’s such a cool little amp, but it’s nice to see somebody tweaking it a little to let me know what’s possible. I would like to know the brand name of that Bluetooth transmitter if you get a chance. I’ve got the mini too. It’s a little less loud, but works the same otherwise. It’s plenty loud enough for practice, and I love the usb rechargeable battery. It charges fast and lasts a long time. Your strap locks are upside down on the strap. The way you have them, it relies purely on the sprung centre pin to take the weight. If you turn them 180 degrees, the strap button is taking the weight via the outer "cage" of the strap lock as well as the centre pin.

Hey! Awesome video, thank you! Could you advise if you are aware of the standing frequencies (if that makes sense, English is my second languge) that occur when you use Spark via Headphones to Aux (whether it is mixer or soundcard)? I face a problem that when I want to play via Spark on bigger PA systems or at home via my external soundcard it produces these constant high frequencies. If that sounds familiar and you managed to fix that, I would very appreciate if you share the method! I believe this issue occurs on every Spark.

The EQ pedal in the app basically takes care of the bass, especially when you turn the physical knob down to zero. I've seen people switch out the speakers themselves. I did the same, but it turned out sounding like crap, so I went back. If you are going to spend money on the battery pack, you might as well buy the Spark mini, which has the battery. I think the mini sounds even better than the 40. There is only so much volume you can push out of the 40 before it breaks up. The mini is very loud. And from the sound of it, the Spark Go also sounds great and that's even more portable.

I had done most (I don’t have the excessive bass problem)of these before seeing this. I did try the Bluetooth headphones but there seems to be too much of a signal lag to jam with a recording. Maybe yours is faster?

@davpat2112 4mo ago Great video, thanks for the tips. One note on the bluetooth transmitter, you will get the best performance from headphones and transmitter that support the AptX LL (low latency) codec. Monoprice makes both transmitter and headphones that support AptX LL believe.

It comes with the plug, you recharge the power supply with a charging adapter

If you are totally wireless (input and outputs) what is the latency like back to the headphones?

Spark needs to. Come up with a 2x10 or a 2x12 multiple instrument amp, know one has one amp that can do it all,even a 2x18 stereo would be nice ,come on now people let's work together 😊❤ get'er done

When I play with backing tracks the amp sounds great using headphones. Unplug them and the speakers sound like crap. How do I duplicate the headphone sound out loud?
@boechlerguitarsandrepair
@boechlerguitarsandrepair 8 месяцев назад
You could change the speakers on the amp, or line into a powered speaker/cab. Positive Grid is releasing a new powered cabinet coming out in November that might be a cool option

I’m a little intimidated to attempt the software update as I’m not too computer savvy, but it’s preventing me from being able to use many of the presets I want from the cloud

Its very straightforward, just follow the instructions and you shouldnt have a problem

So this was a good video for Spark owners. I don't own a Spark. However, I have thought recently about the new Spark Go. This is a tiny amp with a 2" speaker. I would like to use it as a pedal. Is it possible to somehow match the impedance from the headphone output jack of this little amp to the input of a big guitar amp? In other words, plug the output of the GO into the guitar amp. With all the effects available from the Spark amp, it seems like it would make a great pedal. And, .....there should be no need for a sock with 12" speakers.

I have a new spark video that is coming out in the next few days that you will want to check out that addresses this specifically. Stay tuned!

@@boechlerguitarsandrepair Cool - I can wait. Let me babble a bit - I did find GearGasms did this with the full size SPARK. May 14, 2021. I do not think there is a physical volume control on that little new "go" amp. Of course, I would have a concern about damaging my amp due to excessive output from the headphone jack. In these times of planned obsolescence, amps are often non-repairable when they break.

Oops - The GO amp does have a volume control.

I use this one, make sure both your transmitter and your headphones have aptx low latency support, otherwise you may have latency issues YMOO Bluetooth 5.3 Transmitter Receiver with Aptx/Aptx-LL Ultra Low Latency Support (

if you want to block the bass port, you could just tape it. Is this a good idea? I don't know
@ButeSound
@ButeSound 11 месяцев назад
Any blockage will achieve a reduction in bass but how you do it may affect how the frequency response is changed. Suck it and see basically. E.g Partial blockage may work well

You could try taking it in to an amp tech. It's probably all circuit boards so it may be tough to diagnose/fix. You could contact Positive Grid to see if they can help at all

i wonder if you could add the Spark speaker to the TV and use it as a sound bar for the TV ?
@boechlerguitarsandrepair
@boechlerguitarsandrepair 7 месяцев назад
There is an auxiliary input on the spark, so you could run a 1/8 cable from the tv headphone port out to the spark aux in and it should work

Does anyone have any idea if they are ever going to make any new Spark 40 versions in the future or is this the final spark 40 version? I was thinking about getting one of these in the future but I want to know if it will end up having a spark 40 v2 that could potentially fix all the issues this thing has that you need to manually fix (not that it's hard to fix them but it's just easier if there is a future version coming out to get that).
