Males don't stay and take care of the babies, so it's most likely these two don't know each other and just ended up sharing territory but not actually contesting because the momma has babies. They both look super confused about the situation lol
Then again. They could know each other. As, brother and sister. Lol. How can they tell each other apart. ? They all look and smell the same. Walk, talk,, all that the same. We can’t even tell the difference In a lot of animals like that.
@@prestoncheapbtheadphoneste3010 actually they can tell each other by scent pretty well! In fact in several studies when it comes to identifying scents and being able to find food, opossums came out superior to multiple animals including cats and dogs! :) So it could have been coincidental or it could be a sibling that stayed in the area and they are near each other's border or something
Males will often times back down from females if they have babies due to being protective over her kids. Two males however wil fight like pit bulls. This mom already had an injury to her shoulder that seemed to be healing. I've rehabbed them for over 17 years and they're the neatest of all the wildlife to me. Less likely to carry rabies or any othe virus.
@@reign6of6e6terror If we lived out in the wild we'd have a ton of fleas too! Worse even. The same thing happens to stray dogs and cats. Everything looks a bit better if it gets a bit of TLC polish
🤗 Isn't it the most cute thing ? An adorable Possum family ! That little Joey hanging at the tail is tooooo cute ! And the lovely faces all over mom's back !
Weird, I think this might actually be my first time seeing more than one adult possum in a single vid. It’s usually just one big boy being bothered by a human, or a mama and her little ones. Lmao
Possums are pretty cool. She'll walk around with them on her back and over time, they will randomly fall off. She won't notice but they will be able to fend for themselves. It's kind of like a bird that has eaten seeds and then poops them out in different locations and it spreads out the growth.
I absolutely adore these, I am glad we don't have them in Britain, because we have so many roads, and there is enough road kill already. Some people don't realise that they can eat thousands of ticks everyday, that cause lyme disease.
Since this video was captured over twelve years ago, some will lament that all the opossums in this video have spent their short lives and are now dead, and so are their children, as if that were a sad thing. But their offspring, and their children’s offspring, gave birth to more opossums, and as global warming increases their habitat, the opossum population has increased and will thrive. That’s a lesson about life that should be learned by all of us. Our deaths are not frightening, not tragic or even sad, because other lives will go on and on. These opossums were part of it, just as we have been, but we are only a small part of the great mass of life which has grown from the planet Earth, our home and creator. The only important thing we can do during our similarly short lives is to make every effort to protect and encourage the ability of life to flourish and continue. If we allow pollution and plastics and nuclear disasters and war to exterminate life, we will have failed in our purpose and duty to life, and Earth will become as barren and dead as Mars apparently is.
