I have never had a chance of booping the snoot, but I have had the chance to just normally pet an oppossum! And from what I could see, I think the snoot would be pretty soft :)
Their fur is dry. Not as soft as a rabbit’s, but not coarse, and definitely not bristly or rough. Much closer to longer cat fur than short dog fur. It’s got a pleasant texture. Their tails, however, feel pretty much exactly like a rat’s tail - very smooth and although their tail skin is dry, it has that combination of “waxy” and “greasy” that rat tails have. It doesn’t bother me, but people who hate even domestic, hooded rats can get grossed out by the feel. Then, when they realize the ‘possum’s prehensile tail just wrapped around their finger to hold on firmly...well...sometimes they freak out a little. Or a lot. 😂
Fun fact: they love eating ticks, and their body temp is too high for rabies to survive in them. Animals worth keeping around if you find them near your home.
I used to raise a possum because we found him abandoned as a baby, and he was a free-range possum, but whenever he was hungry in the morning you would wake up to hear him sniffing at your head like this 💗❤️
Bellos de los pocos marsupianes que quedan en América Latina .A mi casa llegan a visitarme de noche yo los alimento con frutas y pedazos de pollo cocido.Son muy nerviosos y desconfiados han sufrido de mucho maltrato. PROTEJAMOSLOS.
I agree. Here in the North East United States they're amazing to have around because they eat ticks. I've had Lyme disease before so I always welcome them around my home.

I've always thought possums were super cute and I've always wanted to see one and then I saw one in my backyard just sitting there and I immediately screamed and I have no idea why.
I'm delighted to be feeding three adult opossums right now, they're so cute, named them Minnie, Mickey, and Winkle. Watching them eat is better than TV.
