Even after four years I still struggle at times. The metaphoric bandage is off , but there’s still a few bandaids . I’m getting stronger ,but I have to be consistent in my healing and aware of life’s challenges and accept them. “ Non attachment, non resistance,and non judgment is the key to inner peace”

Hi Larry! I think everyone struggles at times, no matter how many years you have 🥰 And yes, you are getting stronger and will continue to do so by following the principles you mentioned 👍 Hope to see you simetime soon 💜🙌🙏

I have my wife’s oldest son 32 living in my house for over 3 months. Rental home burned to ground and thank God he survived! Problem, I went to treatment in beginning of July and I didn’t know he was staying till moving to new place. 3 months later and he is my family drinking buddy, wife says he is more important and why are you drinking? We are going to counseling this week. Any thoughts? Thanks!
@DRKJFOSTER
@DRKJFOSTER Год назад
Hi Matt. Sorry to hear you are drinking again, but not surprised based on what you are describing. It's very hard to stay sober in an environment where others are drinking. I think counseling is a good start, but perhaps you should consider some additional outpatient treatment to give you more support?

Hi Chantana it sounds more like you are in the acute withdrawal phase rather than PAWS. As Dr. Foster said, hopefully this is being medically supervised and congratulations for choosing to be healthy and happy.

Even after 3.5 years I'm still having some issues. Not so much with relapse, the health side effects of PAWS. You can go for months with no issues then one day you feel like you quit all over again. 24 years of heavy weed smoking I shouldn't expect full recovery in 18 months. Only Jesus can heal all that damage I caused.

@@cck19921 It took a long time to get to a good place. People are not willing to put in the hard work to get to the place where they can say it was worth it, but it is. Don;t give up when times get tough because you will be tested.

Can PAWS last longer than time of use ? I used synthetic weed HHCp for only 2 months.... now 7 months sober and still having PAWS symptoms..

I can't agree that it will take a year, it may and maybe not, NO ONE KNOWS , sadly no reshearch on thisI know people who recovered in few months, others longer NO ONE KNOWS Tto put a time frame as you did I ask, what study you take that 18 month come from, or how you did you come up with it. A RE ENT GOOGLE SEARCH and several articles do not support any specific number.

Hi Gary, this is based on both my professional experience working with individuals with Substance Use Disorders. If you've reached the severe end of the diagnosis of SUD than it will take at least a year for the brain to heal from the impact, most likely longer. You may be referring to more mild cases of SUD. Happy New Year!

@@DRKJFOSTER happy new year...May I ask what is your definition of severe SUD....My experience has shown me a wide range some from NO PAWS at all to others, yes at least a year , But What would you consider severe SUD ,

not true--it Does not take a longtime to stop anything you "want" to stop----it takes awareness and personal responsibility--not willpower
@DRKJFOSTER
@DRKJFOSTER 10 месяцев назад
I dont think I imply you need willpower alone.
@unconditionalfreedom
@unconditionalfreedom 10 месяцев назад
@@DRKJFOSTER well, it takes deprogramming the mind so willpower is not really part of it. No matter what we change I have found no matter what it is. And I've worked with addicts Etc. That's another story I've also had to change some bad habits in my own life. And it's all about desire. Once you see you're getting no benefit and you see the truth of the conditioning of your mind and how you let it happen the person let it happen, then the said person can make a plan and stop. Is no such thing as quitting it's stopping because you don't want to do something that has zero benefit
